The first Assassin’s Creed was just down- right amazing (at least for me anyways), and its was pretty obvious from the beginning that Ubisoft had big plans to expand the soon-to-be franchise. Fast-forward almost two years after its November 2007 release and here we are, at the verge of Assassin’s Creed II being released, and we finally get some new details of Assassin’s Creed: Lineage, a Ubisoft’s Hybride Technologies (300 and Sin City) production of short movies that will depict the events leading up to the game’s commence.

Ubisoft today announced that the oh-so-famous (that’s right) “YouTube”, will be getting the first of three short films on October 27th. It’ll be up on its homepage in eight countries throughout the world! These short films will revolve around Ezio’s father, Giovanni Auditore da Firenze, (Now, why couldn’t my parents pick a name like that for me?), giving insight as to what the story behind Assassin’s Creed II is all about. Additionally, the short films will also introduce both friends and foes of the family, which we’ll get to learn more about in the game.

Along with this attempt to expand on its now very successful Assassin’s Creed universe, the guys at Ubisoft were kind enough to provided us with this trailer, allowing us a taste of what to expect once October 27th rolls around.

Assassin’s Creed II will be out on November 17th for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, with the PC version coming 2010.
