The lights are on
Ok, so it's time for more of my favorite musical artists... and today's subject is again in the more unheard of category, though she has had much more publicity in recent years (especially thanks to TV series loving her music... Grey's Anatomy, Six Feet Under, and The Lion, the Witch, and The Wardrobe for certain).
Imogen Heap, soft voice with a sultry demeanor... very calming music, if not at times a little depressing. Some people may know her from the collaboration called Frou Frou? They did a version of "Holding Out for a Hero" which was during the credits of Shrek 2. It's probably one of the better known songs...
Now adays, rather than doing collaborations, Imogen is working on her own music. She has a few CD's of which I find Speak For Yourself to be quite remarkable... featuring such songs as "Speeding Cars", "Hide and Seek", and "Headlock". For her own credit, Miss Heap is not about the publicity, but more about the music--less about the money and more about charity... as she is currently involved in some personal charitys to benefit Asia and Africa.
She is a fabulous songwriter, credit for more writing than actual perfomance of her work. In 2001 she wrote the Way Out West single "Mindcircus" for their album Intensify; the track became a hit across Europe's dancefloors. She worked on a track for Britney Spears' fourth release, In the Zone; this track is called "Over to You Now", co-writing and providing backing vocals on the track, which was produced by Guy Sigsworth.
All in all a talented artist, unfortunately who I happen to like her music more than I have interest in her as a person... I'm not nearly as obsessive over her as I am other artists, but that could be because she prefers to keep to herself rather than be all over the media or actually appearing in films (which is to be admired).
Nonetheless you should all check her out... I think I've provided more than enough links to pique interest.
the hero song in shrek 2 had me too pumped, i like her now lol.
Haha... well that's good! I bet you'd be surprised by some of the songs you like that she's associated with.
I'm surprised she only has 3 albums
