The lights are on
I recently got the latest edition of GI magazine, waiting for all the juicy info about the sequel to one of my favorite games, Portal, and THIS is what I saw:
No, I did not get FF XIII with my magazine. I just love it.
But do you see the sticker? Do you see how it defiles the awesomeness that is portal? Worst still, when I tried to take it off, it ripped part of my cover off with it, so that I stopped ripping it off altogether. I understand the need to let me know I should subscribe again, but do you guys have to mess with the beautiful covers?
EDIT: like an idiot, I decided to take some of your advice and try to peel it off one more time, as many of you assured me it would leave no residue. SUPRISE! The residue is there and it is sticky as hell Thanks 4 nothing, losers!
Your's didn't come with a copy of FF13? Odd....mine did...
I had the same thing happen on the Epic Mickey cover. I'm telling you, we need to petition GI to start sending all future issues wrapped in plastic. And the expiration notice should be inside the plastic, but not attached to the magazine in any way. That would be perfect.
How many people are going to post whiny blog posts about this subject. Really, its a magazine, you read it, more than likely it will never be worth anything, and unless if you wish to be on a future episode of a show about people hoarding stuff, you can just get rid of it anyway.
At least your post office hasn't shredded your last few issues like mine.
That's what you get for letting your subscription expire...LOL. Just kidding. Call the support line...they'll probably send you a new one if you're that concerned about it.
I hate when that stuff happens, theres stil a sticker inside the back cover of one of my Spawn books
I know it might be upsetting that you ripped your cover, but you need to see it from the other perspective.
Imagine, if you will, that they hadn't put that sticker on there. That magazine you have is prestine condition. PERFECT! Until, that is, your next issue isn't here when its supposed to be. The horror! You hadn't realized that your not going to get the next issue because you didn't know your subscription ended! You run up to the local GameStop store, but they are all sold out, because there happened to be a bunch of people whose subscription ran out just like you! You run back home, log onto Ebay, and noone is selling thier beautiful stickerless issues on the internet, and your doomed to hear all about it from your friends without owning a copy yourself! How can you go on about life?!?
Settle down, breathe. Take a second here, its only your imagination. Your fine, your okay. You have to go up and renew your subscription still, but maybe that little sticker isn't so bad afterall...
@ Demon Ragnarok- Dude, its nice to have past references to look up, so its not uncommon for people to keep thier old issues. If nothing else the lettering is perfect for making ransom letters.
OMG I hate when people put stickers on my stuff. I had a Ponyo sticker on one of my Naruto Dvd cases. I complianed cuz of the sticky *** on it and got some free stuff and a replacement case, but its still not cool to do that.
True, but to complain about a sticker when you plan to reference is ridiculous. Especially when you can access most of the information on the internet.
I'm going to have that on mine too. . .whenever the hell I get it!
I hate the stickers they put on the used games that I buy. I mean come on, why do you have to put it on the inside of the plastic so it's almost impossible for me to get out without screwing up the case.
Hey, don't give away good ransom letter secrets! Imagine if, say someone read this and they thought you knew too much... Or maybe GI is in cahoots with kidnappers and Somalian pirates!
I personally don't really care about the sticker. I see no big deal in it.
Think of the alternatives, too. You could always have SWAT busting down your door and shoving you to the floor yelling 'YOUR SUBSCRIPTION IS ALMOST OVER, YOU TRASH!' in a confused frenzy that could have you soiling your pants. I think the sticker is a good idea.
This is true and next month there will be ANOTHER cover ruining sticker attached to it also, makes me not even want to re-new my subscription but i will, dagnabbit, i will.
At least they didn't put the sticker in the middle of the portal. Imagine that.
@Anthony Sacco
Yes, thank god for that.
I like that sticker, better than the covers they used to use. Made it really uncomfortable to hold when I read it, and when you tried to take the cover off it messed up the binding. The only alternative was to cut the covers off at the binding.
A sticker is much better in the grand scheme of things. It's not like I'm going to frame it and put it on my desk to stare at...or sale it on Ebay. So whatever.
Ummm...you guy know that that sticker peels off real easy without damaging the magazine or leaving a sticky residue behind, right?
