Future Kinect Games

Upon reading the August Issue of GameInformer (or issue 219 I believe), I stumbled upon this article about E3 and it's conferences as well as competition. I flip the page and a picture of Star Wars as well as the title "Coming Up for Kinect" stuck out to me like a sore thumb. After that I couldn't help but write this blog. So here goes a list of future Kinect games and a description here and there:

1. Fruit Ninja Kinect

fruit ninja Microsoft Studios

Release: Summer

Publisher: Microsoft Games Studios

Developer: Halfbrick

Everybody knows Fruit Ninja right? That juicy and delicious slicing connection between you and the flatscreen monitor in Dave N Buster's (spent most of my tickets on it :3). Well guess what fruit lovers? That same amusement from your mobile devices and Dave N Buster's montiors are hitting the big screen in your bedrooms, living rooms, game rooms etc. This time, you don't touch your screen. Just wave your arms back and forth like you just don't care and the Kinect does all the slicing for you to score rocking points. And get this? New fruit are coming such as pomegranates for a better challenge and you can play with your friends, go head-to-head, and compete for the top spot on the leaderboards!

I don't know about you guys, but I'm psyched about this game!

2.  The Gunstringer

gunstringer twisted pixel microsoft game studios

Release: Holiday

Publisher: Microsoft Games Studios

Developer: Twisted Pixel

I honestly have no idea what to think of this game, but it looks interesting. From the developers of Splosion Man, you play as a marionette that's out for revenge in the Wild Wild West. You can manipulate this character with hand gestures as you explore while sitting or standing. Expect this on the retail shelves later this year.

3. Rise of Nightmares

rise of nightmares sega

Release: September

Publisher: Sega

Developer: Sega

If your interests include mutilation, dismemberment, beheading, and blood, then this game has your name on it. This "M" rated title has a category of its own from Kinect's family friendly games as you play as an American tourist trying to save his wife from a crazy scientist. Of course you'll have a horde of zombie-like creatures after your flesh like Black Ops Zombie Mode for you COD fans out there, but don't worry, you have up to 40 in weapon selection. That includes a pipe, brass knuckles, a chainsaw, and all the other fun stuff that allows you to beat them into a bloody and gory pulp.

This is a most likely #3 on my "I Plan On Getting" list for Gamestop.

4. Just Dance 3

just dance 3 ubisoft

Release: October

Publisher: Ubisoft

Developer: Ubisoft Paris

Okay all you funky monkeys out there! You grooved to Just Dance; you've boogied to Just Dance 2. Now put on your dancing shoes and get ready for Just dance 3! Yes you heard here first, Just Dance 3 is coming with a whole new style and upgrades. Complete with the full body motion with not just the Wii remote, you can move and groove to 40 new songs with popular artists such as The Black Eyed Peas, Katy Perry, Gwen Stefani, and more. This Kinect version even has a "Shout Out" feature that allows you to sing along to your favorite songs, now how awesome is that!?

This game just got #1 on the Gamestop list :)

5. Motion Sports Adrenaline

motion sports adrenaline

Release: October

Publisher: Ubisoft

Developer: Ubisoft Vancouver

Here we have a little change from the original Motion Sports, hopely with the ability for this franchise to redeem itself since it did so poorly before hand (based on what it said in the article; I've never played it). Players can enjoy activities such as mountain biking, kayaking, wingsuit, and kitesurfing alone or in splitscreen. Asynchronous online play is also included so that you can attempt to beat your friend's best time in an activity without them actually being there.

6. Raving Rabbids Alive and Kicking

raving rabbids alive and kicking ubisoft

Release: November

Publisher: Ubisoft

Developer: Ubisoft Paris/ Ubisoft Milan

If you're a Raving Rabbids fan, prepare yourself for a game full of fun mini games you and your fellow Raving Rabbit comrades will enjoy. Chocked full of different fun stuff, including whack-a-Rabbid, this will bring lots of laughs while encouraging you to move your body into awkward positions. To tell you the truth the title made me think of the Rabbids as zombies because of the automatic irony behind it.

7. Your Shape Fitness Evolved 2012

fitness evolved ubisoft

Release: November

Publisher: Ubisoft

Developer: Ubisoft Montreal

Ready to get in shape? This 90 hours of gameplay will give you the workout you want the fun and cool way with different workout programs and mini games. Dance workouts such as Bollywood, Latin, and Hip Hop as well as the new "Run Around the World" is definitely a step up to encouraging people to have a healthier lifestyle a little differently. Seems like Wii Fit to the next level if you ask me, which is a good thing.

Another addition to my Gamestop list :)

8. Kinect Sports Season Two

microsoft game studios

Release: Holiday

Publisher: Microsoft Game Studios

Developer: Rare/Big Park Games

New sports and features are coming to the Kinect Sports follow-up with Kinect Sports Season Two. Tennis, football, golf, darts, and baseball are some sporting activities you can enjoy with imporved motion tracking and voice commands on multiple difficulty levels for you only or with friends included. Challenge friends over Xbox Live, share in-game photos and videos on KinectShare, or boast your awesomeness of Facebook.

9. Kinect Star Wars

kinect star wars lucasarts

Release: Holiday

Publisher: LucasArts/Microsoft Game Studios

Developer: LucasArts

Ah Star Wars. The most commonly loved and original of sci-fi entertainment. Now on the Kinect! With targets automatically selected for you, you have the option of using the Force or swinging the lightsaber till your enemies are no more. With pod racing and X-wing dog fights, gamers can play drop-in/drop-out co-op, competition, and duel modes.

Now we Star Wars fans can live out our dreams and slice some drones in half with our lightsaber. So, who's got the Force now Dad! Oh man me and him will be playing till the cows come home once he or myself purchases this. Another addition to my list :)

10. Ryse

Release: TBA

Publisher: Microsoft Game Studios

Developer: Crytek

Become a warrior in Ancient Rome who kicks, stabs, punches, headbutts, and other combat moves in a bloody melee battle-to-the-death such as Ryse. Shame there is nothing much to talk about this game, but it's still worth a try.

And last but not least....

11. Fable: The Journey

fable the journey microsoft game studios

Release: 2012

Publisher: Microsoft Game Studios

Developer: Lionhead Studios

You thought it was over at Fable 3? Your absolutely right, but now we have Fable: The Journey. This one is for those who love role playing genres, which I'll start getting into once I get Skyrim: Oblivion. It is time for you, the humble yet intense gamer, to cover over 300 miles of road on a horse carriage on your trip to the kingdom of Albion. You have full control of your horse and can even issue voice commands as well as make hand gestures to issue magic spells. Are you ready to make The Journey?

Well if you ask me, I think most of these games are going to rock the Kinect. That's the one with the best franchise, like Just Dance 3. With that said, leave your comments below if you have something you'd like to share about the Kinect or these new games coming out.

Bye!

Comments
  • I think of all of those, Ryse and Fable: The Journey are going to be the best. Even though Fable isn't going to be Fable.

  • Really nice write-up Livia, solid.

I can say I'm excited for games 1-3, as well as seeing how Ryse turns out.

  • i would only want Just dance 3 and kinect sports 2.. Fable is a maybe but most likely not depending on the reviews. and star wars kinect seems like a gimmick. good blog :)

  • Of all the games for Kinect, the only ones I'm excited for are Star Wars and Ryse. Especially Ryse, for some reason that game looks awesome. I'm a bit curious about Fable: The Journey, but at this point I want some more information on it to give a final decision on it.

  • Great blog post, I was hoping for more opinions rather than a recap of the magazine, but a very good write up. Especially from a journalistic standpoint. 1 and 2 have me genuinely excited, 3 is iffy, especially after reading a hands-on impression that said it wasn't very good.

I can care less about 4-7, I don't want any of those, at all, period.

8 is a game that I am excited for, I played and own the first, which had some of the best quality on kinect, so I'm glad they have a new one coming out. I'm also really glad that they didn't do a wii sports resort and make 15 different ones, but bring in two from the last wii sports game, and have a bunch that either play the same or aren't that fun. These all seem really unique and hopefully really well thought out games.

9 is still little iffy, particularly after reading about how unresponsive and clunky it was. The whole concept is incredible, so as long as it executes well, then it should be a very good game, but I need lucas arts to prove that this game is going to be high quality.

10 and 11 seem to be the most promising. I still need to see more of Ryse before I can say that it is really good or anything, but the concept and what appears to be some gameplay trailer bits are really good in theory, hopefully it can execute well. Same goes with Fable, just like Ryse, I hope Fable is not on rails. Peter Molyneaux says it isn't, but with that guy you never know. I;m really hoping for these two games to breathe some hardcore life into the kinect.
