Well my father knew how annoying it gets hearing younger users exclaiming obscene things on games like Call of Duty.

However, he agreed with me that the M-rating would not accomplish much for those who are getting access to these games in the first place.

He didn't dig as deeply as I did, but he overall agreed with what I was saying.

Debate is awesome, until it becomes argument. I know I'm trying to level off the opinions in my blog, because some of them are very strong, and I'm sure improving my writing skills as well so that I can better articulate my ideas. Right now I'm working on an entry about the Mass Effect universe and how big it is getting.

I love a good debate. Although sometimes I can get a bit heated (see any debate between bib money and myself). I honestly didn't see your thread about UFC vs MMA thread. Otherwise, I at least would have commented.

Yeah, stating that you're playing devil's advocate will hopefully result in less attacks on you directly (I really don't like seeing "are you retarded" comments). I admit I was keeping a very close eye on that thread because things did get a little heated here and there, but all in all I was glad to see most people debate it intelligently and back up their claims.

Yeah, it was hard to be honest. I had to think of honest and intelligent reason to argue FOR something that I really don't agree with. Everyone did a fantastic job!

I think I will say if I'm playing "devil's advocate". If I do you have my full permission to not hold back. I'm thick skinned and I can take it. But in the end we can still be friends!

Quite interesting that it was a test the whole time.

What I found most unusual was that you, a veteran user and obviously a veteran gamer, would have such beliefs at the time. Good to know it wasn't true in the first place!

Perhaps it would be a good idea to say you're playing the "devil's advocate" next time. I will try not to hold back in the next debate, but I don't want to go so far that I get a [SNIP] from a moderator! :-D

Thanks for the debate in the first place! I was so intrigued by it that I was actually discussing the topic with my father...

Good job, Joe. I think you really just opened peoples minds to good debate on the site. I'm not much of a thread starter but I hope some people start debates. But please no console/platform wars. Or any fanboyism involving Call of Dudes or Halo.
