Kentucky Derby 2013 Live Stream On May 4, 2013, the world will shift its attention to the annual Kentucky Derby. As is the case with every race, oddsmakers have labeled the favorites and created the perception that this race is not to be won by underdogs but to be lost by powerhouses.

The question is, which of the under-the-radar horses could stun the favorites and win the 2013 Kentucky Derby?

When the field is set, it's rarely difficult to find the horses that have developed into the favored racers. Often, those horses are coming off wins at previous events or have received praise due to the high-profile nature of their owner, trainer or jockey.

As history has displayed, however, nothing about this race is predictable. On April 30, Mylute's odds to win the Kentucky Derby were 33-to-1, per Bovada. On May 2, the odds improved to 16-to-1.

That's a testament to how legitimate of a contender this horse has become.

Orb and Verrazano remain in the driver's seat amongst oddsmakers, but Mylute is moving up for a reason. Perhaps nothing is more intriguing than the fact that one of the nation's top jockeys is going to be riding Mylute at the Kentucky Derby.

After winning 11 major races in 2012, Rosie Napravnik has already won three in 2013. The 25-year-old will be going for her first Kentucky Derby win while guiding Mylute across the finish line.

Having won the Doubledogdare Stakes in Lexington, Kentucky earlier this year, Napravnik feels comfortable in this area. While the major stage will be a different animal to tame, there aren't many riders as hot as Napravnik.

That's a major reason for Mylute being a legitimate contender.

According to Bovada, Oxbow currently has 33-1 odds to win the 2013 Kentucky Derby. With that being said, it's clear that this horse is being sold short.

Three-time Kentucky Derby winner Gary L. Stevens will be riding Oxbow at this year's event.

Stevens won the Kentucky Derby in 1988, 1995 and 1997. He has also won the Preakness Stakes twice and the Belmont Stakes three times, including his most most recent crown in 2001.

With that being said, Stevens has been retired since 2005.

If we've learned anything from his illustrious career, however, it's that anything is possible when he's on a horse. In a 2013 Kentucky Derby field in which nothing appears to be certain, Stevens' presence is encouraging.

When you've won the event three times, who's to say you won't get a fourth?

Kentucky Derby 2013 Live Stream On Wednesday in the Secretariat Lounge at Churchill Downs, the final entries were announced and the post positions were drawn for the 139th running of the $2 million Kentucky Derby (G1). Since 21 horses were entered, a full field of 20 three-year-olds will go 1 1/4 miles on Saturday at Churchill Downs, with Fear the Kitten getting in as an also eligible who will draw in the race if someone scratches by 9am Friday. The new point system called "Road to the Kentucky Derby" determined the preference order for the colts entered.

After the posts were drawn, handicapper Mike Battaglia announced the morning line. Florida Derby winner Orb was set as favorite at 7-2 with Wood Memorial winner Verrazano second choice at 4-1, and Santa Anita Derby winner Goldencents was the third choice at 5-1. With those three so close in odds, it was all the way up to 10-1 for the fourth choice, Louisiana Derby winner Revolutionary.

The Kentucky Derby goes off at 6:24pm ET, carded as Race 11 of a 13-race card on Saturday May 4th. You can view entries for the whole card on Free past performances for the Kentucky Derby are available here after the post positions were drawn and here from in alphabetica order from

Update: Black Onyx was scratched at 11:30am on Friday. Because it was after 9am, also-eligible Fear the Kitten will now draw in. Black Onyx came back from his gallop this morning with some filling and lameness which x-rays showed was a non-displaced chip in his ankle. They are still waiting for word on whether he will need surgery or if time off will heal it. The stewards have decided that the one hole in the starting gate will be left open.

The 139th Kentucky Derby takes place Saturday, May 4, from Churchill Downs in Louisville, for the first leg of horse racing’s elusive Triple Crown (sweeping the Kentucky Derby, Preakness Stakes and Belmont Stakes). Verrazano, Orb, Revolutionary, Normandy Invasion and Goldencents are among the top contenders in the starting gate. I’ll Have Another won last year’s Kentucky Derby and Preakness, but his Triple Crown chances were scratched when tendonitis forced him out of the Belmont.

Conditions will be wet and muddy for the 2013 Kentucky Derby. SBNation weather contributor, Meteorologist Brian Neudorff, gives us the weekend weather forecast. Kentucky Derby 2013 Live Stream Besides Verrazano, trainer Todd Pletcher will have four other horses running at Churchill Downs, tying a Derby record. Pletcher also trains Revolutionary, who has the fourth best odds at 10/1.

Doug O’Neill trained last year’s winner, I’ll Have Another. In 2013, he has a good chance to be a on the winning side, once again. He trains Goldencents, whose odds have been set at 5/1.

Four Horses are tied for the worst odds at 50/1. Black Onyx, who drew the No.1 post position, leads the group of longshots.
