Master Chief - Master Chief is who he is because he has a warped sense of loyalty. I have a read the books, so I understand him as more than an overrated silent, brooding, show-off (etc.) of a man. And I am an avid Halo player, so I kinda have to stick up for him.

Ratchet - I have played Jak like... once. A long time ago. For a few minutes. So this is isn't something that I can say anything on, but I actually really like Ratchet and Clank as characters.

Some really corny and overrated main characters?

Conan. Oh God. That game made me crack up. So horribly corny. Just thinking about it makes me laugh.

Another would be the main guy from Unreal Tournament 3, I'm not sure what his name is. Stereotypical beefy guys with a past always kinda irritate me.

The 'heroes' in video games are all the same. They all have some kind of hidden/haunted past. They're are all deep down very emotional but hide it behind stoic bravado (that was sarcasm). They have some hot chic to replace the other hot chic that died, and they feel like they had something to do with their deaths so they feel guilty, blah blah blah.. I could go on about this forever lol, but I think you get my point.
