Previously on Once Upon A Time Season 1 Episode 7 "The Heart is a Lonely Hunter", Sheriff Graham begins to remember his past life in the Enchanted Forest and Emma begins to consider if she's falling for Graham while the backstory of the Evil Queen's faithful Huntsman is revealed. At the conclusion of the episode, Emma and Graham see a wolf from Graham's dreams – a wolf with one red eye and a black one – and follow it to the Mills crypt in the cemetery, which has the symbol Graham saw in the book of fairytales when he went to see Henry. Regina confronts them and Graham ends their relationship, prompting Emma and Regina to get into a scuffle. As Graham later tends to the cut on Emma's eye, Regina returns to the crypt and heads down a secret passage underneath her father's coffin into the Evil Queen's hidden vault – which contains the Huntsman's heart that the Queen ripped out after learning that he failed to kill Snow White. Regina takes the heart and squeezes it, causing Graham to die when he is about to kiss Emma. On this week's episode title "Desperate Souls", Emma announces her candidacy for public office and Regina engages in dirty politics with Mr. Gold while Rumpelstiltskin's backstory is revealed along with his attempt to help his son avoid a war.Emma Swan knows how to take care of herself. She's a 28-year-old bail bonds collector who's been on her own ever since she was abandoned as a baby. But when the son she gave up years ago finds her, everything will change. Henry is 10 years old now and in desperate need of Emma's help. Henry believes that Emma actually comes from an alternate world... and is Prince Charming and Snow White's missing daughter.
