Now, how many of you have seen the M16, or some form of the M16 in a game? Quite a bit I would wager. Now, how many of you have seen a gun like this...
(The Groza OC-14)
Probably haven't, now the point I am making here is that I personally am a bit tired of seeing all these AKs and M16s and millions of other guns I have seen in FPSes today. I would love a game filled with guns I have never heard of and never seen, but maybe the choice in guns that normal FPSes pick are symbolic of how, and why they are made. Very safe, not taking any risk, yet lacking in creativity, come on, don't tell me some of you gamers out there that indulge in the FPS genre don't notice this pattern. In my opinion, it's a pattern that needs to stop. For anything to advance, you have to take risks, take chances, and use your mind to the fullest. Sadly, the companies that do this are often small unnoticed indie companies that are lucky to have 100 gamers buy their game.
That brings us to my second question. Are we the fault of this? Did we, as gamers get so complacent with the ordinary and run of the mill stuff that we complain about lack of creativity, but fail to support gaming companies that supply us with that? Or, maybe I'm just being a pessimist and need to lighten up, who knows? Finally, I ask you, the gamer, do you delight in the ordinary AK-47 games? Or would you rather partake in the Groza OC-14 games? The choice, of course, is up to you.
