My Top 25 Bosses

So after some very successful lists, I'm now doing Bosses. We all have our favorites(or bosses we love to hate) so I'm listing My Top 25 Favorite Bosses in games. *Note* Not all of them are going to be final bosses, some are going to be mini-bosses as well, because I realized that I didn't care for some of the final boss battles.

*Note 2* some of these might be spoilers to some games if you have not played them.

25. Alduin (TES:Skyrim)

A giant Dragon c'mon.

24. Ryder White (Dead Island)

Not the greatest of all games, but this fight was a freaking pain.

23. Jack of Blades (Fable)

The first Fable was great. And it ended with a decent boss

22. Kayran (The Witcher 2)

It's pretty much a Kraken and I've always wanted to fight those...

21. Lanius (Fallout:New Vegas)

The game ended with a decent boss. Whilst the game was not great like 3, it ended good enough

20. Saren(Mass Effect)

By the end of the game I just felt sorry for him. And I felt sorry for killing him. Twice.

19. Silhouette (Destroy All Humans!)

I needed to mention Destroy All Humans!, sorry.

18. Albert Wesker (Resident Evil 5)

Not the best RE title, he was a decent boss.

17. King Boo (Luigi's Mansion)

Gave me nightmares after he popped out of Bowsers head....

16. Hivemind(Dead Space)

This game just creeped me out. Then having this thing to fight?

15. General RAAM (Gears of War)

I don't know how many deaths I had to finally kill this thing.

14. Bowser(any Mario Game)

C'mon

13. Shaak Ti (Star Wars The Force Unleashed)

I really enjoyed fighting her and the Saarlac Pit.

12. Mad Jack (Donkey Kong 64)

I always knew those things were evil!

11. Darth Malak( Star Wars:Knights Of The Old Republic)

amazing fight to an amazing game.

10. Clayton (Kingdom Hearts)

Fighting him took me, literally days to kill him.

9. Dr Ned (Borderlands: The zombie Island Of DR Ned)

I busted out laughing when they showed that character description for the fight. busted right out laughing.

8. Mother (Prey)

Freaky, but cool looking.

7. Gruntilda(Banjo-Kazooie)

It took me 5 years to finally beat her in Banjo-Tooie. that's why she is this high.

6. Brock (Dead Rising)

Hardest fight on this game...

5. Master Hand (Super Smash Bros. Melee)

It's a floating hand.

4. Archdemon (Dragon Age:Origins)

I knew it was coming the entire game. But somehow I still felt unprepared for him.

3. Maleficent (Kingdom Hearts)

It took my sister forever to kill her. i beat her on the first try.

2. GLaDOS (Portal)

Just recently played Portal and I loved GLaDOS! Awesome fight.

1. Adam (Dead Rising)

And You though regular clowns were scary?

Let me paint a picture for you. This game came out about 6 years ago. So I would be about twelve. After hours of rigorously killing zombie, terrified out of my mind, I stumble upon this guy. Iet me also point out it was 3 in the morning when I found him. And to top it off I had just watched IT for the first time a few days before. So scared 12 year old kid, exhausted at 3 in the morning, and terrified of clowns. After he kills me in five seconds I immediately turn off my xbox, crawl into bed, and never slept because I was so terrified of what had happened. Even to this day he scares the living *** out of me when I fight him.

Hope you enjoyed!

  • I actually haven't fought many of these guys, things, ect. :) Saren, RAAM (countless deaths? tell me about it) and Shaak Ti are the only ones, as I still have to finish Dragon Age and Skyrim. [but can you blame me for getting distracted on the last one? :)] Its an interesting list though, and your clown story was a great thing to share, plus, like Le Hannibal on his Halo blog, you gave away a hint at your age. :) Personal notables are the second of the four infamous bosses of Deus Ex: HR, as that was a true controller throwing moment for me, and the titan fights in Castlevania: LOS. That game has the best boss fights as far as I'm concerned, so I could name more, but those titans combine epic scale with interactivity in a way that even defeats God of War 3, especially since they're not button-mashers, you have to be aware and sharp with your mind to learn their attack patterns and precise with your platforming to scale the beasts to bring them down. Plus, since the path up and down their bodies don't obviously stick out with glowing "go here!" signs, anxiety is thrown into the mix, as the game is rock solid and you will be punished for failing. The gratification after putting one of them down is sublime. O.k., rant over. :)
  • that clown was disturbed and still is...that cutscene with the bloody teddy bears still gives me willies....and he died pretty....dare i say awesomely...and yes i was younger as well when i played that game. and i never would have imagined that being the final boss for new vegas.....i never beat it. so what's next?
  • Great list as always! I definitely can agree with Bowzer from Luigi n Mario.
  • Where is The End from MGS3? That was one of the most **** fights in any video game. Ever.
  • Nice list! I loved seeing Gruntilda and Bowser :) And I have to say that is one creepy clown! No need to feel bad, I also cheer when I beat a villain or when something awesome happens lol.
  • No MGS4 final boss?
  • Mod
Glados, Maleficent, and Saren! This list is great. Excellent blog DJH.
  • Brock was a pain, I agree and it actually felt like an accomplishment when I finally beat him.
  • Also, every single encounter in Shadow of the Colossus. ;)
  • I agree with Mr Propellerhead above me. The entire game of Shadow of the Colossus is a series of boss fights. Best boss battles there. Especially the bird colossus.
  • I agree with many of yours, but no Metroid? If you haven't played those give them a try ;)
  • I'd have to say, my favorite final boss fight of any game I've played is The Boss from MGS3. That initial scene at the beginning of the battle in that field is just so damn beautiful.
  • I love the inclusion of Ned from Borderlands. And I really loved how you received 1 Achievement Score for beating him the first time and then 49 the second.
  • I thought RAAM was kind of a pathetic boss actually. I mean, he killed me a ton, but I did the exact same thing over and over to kill him and it wasn't tough. I just died cheaply every time. At least that's what happened in my perception.
  • Mod
Wow! Great list, I like how you don't stop at 5, or ten, or fifteen, or even twenty! Good stuff.
  • Great list! You should check out Noitu Love 2. The boss battles in that game are amazingly well done!
  • 3 dragons and a kraken! I love it. Maleficent gave me a lot of problems until I realized I could climb on top of her. I am also excited about you list, because I think there are only 5 of these that I haven't seen/beaten, and that's only because I haven't played those games. Well, not true; I played Dead Rising, but I only beat Adam from your list. Love this post.
  • I hated Darth Malak so much! It took me forever just to get to this guy too! And once I finally get to his chambers my save file doesn't work and deletes... I still haven't beat that game... Some things never come true.
  • if you have a 360 you might want to try and look at a older game called gunstar heroes.  those are some pretty memorable bosses.
