The Quest for 75K Gamerscore, week 1

This week has been a busy week for me. I worked 40 hours at my job, went to a show at a local club, played Dungeons & Dragons with my friends, and spent the majority of Sunday lounging around watching. Despite all of this, I still managed to reach 54K from my previous 53,300 position.

The biggest day for my achievement hunting was my first day after starting this blog, Tuesday. It started in the morning when I started to play Brain Challenge prior to taking my girlfriend to some appointments at the VA. I elected to take the brain test and scored over 20% for a 15G achievement. Then later in the afternoon I started to play Gears of War with a friend to try and complete the game on Insane. It took a few hours but we managed to finish the game, unlocking seven achievements. So I got the Complete act 4 on Hardcore (20G), Complete Act 4 On Insane (30G), A Dish Best Served Cold (30G), Complete Act 5 On Hardcore (20G), Complete Act 5 On Insane (30G), Soldier (20G) and Commando (30G). We then started a new game on easy to help me unlock the Dom achievements. And so I managed the Dom-Curious achievement (10G) before my friend had to get off. I then switched to Call of Duty 2 and began the slow process of beating the game on Veteran. I was only able to get one achievement, Veteran of the Winter War (60G), before I had to go to bed. All told I managed 10 achievements for a total of 265G.

If only every day could be like this, I'd reach my goal in 84 days. Sadly, I realize this is unrealistic. So, Wednesday I had work from 7 am until 3pm. When I got home, I did some stuff around my apartment, checked the GIO forums and then started back in on Call of Duty 2 prior to going to see Earshot and a couple of local bands. With all the hustle and bustle of the day I only manged one achievement, Veteran of El Alamein (60G). A bit low, but it could have been worse.

Thursday was again a busy day with work again from 7 am to 3pm. Then I drove my girlfriend across town to apply for a job at a car dealership, came home showered and changed, and went bowling at 4:30. I finished up at around 6 and came home and managed another achievement, Veteran of Rommel's Last Stand (60G) prior to going to D&D at 8. By the time I got home at 11:30, it was time to go to sleep again.

Friday was work again followed by uninterrupted Call of Duty 2....... except for the fact that I passed out while playing. I only managed one achievement, Veteran of Stalingrad '42 (60G), before falling asleep at around 5pm.

By the time I finally woke up it was midnight, and thus, Saturday and I had wasted my chance for a big gain on Friday. But I was wide awake when I woke up and ended up getting 2 achievements, Veteran of Fortress Stalingrad (60G) and Veteran of the Tank Squadrons (60G) before going to bed for a couple hours before going to work again from 7am-2pm. When I got home I manged to finish Veteran of D-Day prior to going to work again for a short 5:30-8:30 shift. I didn't manage anymore achievements when I got home, but 180G in a day is still pretty solid.

Sunday was work followed by uninterrupted football and time with my girlfriend. Although after she went to bed I did sneak out to get 2 achievements on Doom, Nightmare (10G) and Hoarder (5G), just to get my gamerscore up to an official 54,004. So, I ended up with 640 this week. Not the greatest amount I could have hoped for, but considering how busy my week was, I'll take it. I have today and tomorrow off, so I should see some pretty good gains.

Additionally in my last blog, someone replied and asked for a list of my games with the largest amount of points from achievements. So here is a list of all game 900+:
