What's Happening

Final Episode of Robot in the Corner

"All good things must come to an end." Ending the podcast has been the elephant in the room for several months now. I'm a dad, Titus is a dad, Wes has a triathlon bike...... moving on was inevitable. Sometimes in life, things aren't a question of "Can I?" but rather, "Should I?" Sure, we could keep making time to do the show; but with more responsibilities at work and at home, it would be best for us to shut it down. When people say something is mutual, it never is. But this was mutual.

We've really enjoyed doing this podcast. We hope you enjoyed listening to it. I'm confident that in the future, I'll look back at Robot in the Corner and think, "NEWWWS TIME!" Then I'll think, "That was one of the best experiences of my life." Good times. Thank you.

"I hate goodbyes!"

Show Notes:

We're still alive & well. You can follow us on Twitter (@deanrobot, @titusrobot, & @wesrobot.) And I'll still be here at GIO. I have no solid plans right now, but I may do some projects of my own in the future (outside of blogging.)

As for the robot...

  • To think you've been doing this show for, what, over two years? I think you all were the first to do one if I'm not mistaken. Ah, but all things must come to an end. I'm sure being a dad and owning bikes is a very consuming process. Wish you all the best in your future endeavors.
  • Sorry to hear that this will be the final podcast, but life can take over like that. It's been an absolute joy listening to these and I look forward to the other projects you throw our way at GIO. Congrats on a great series you can look back on with pride!

    NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

The show has been an institution at GIO and I'm sorry to see it go. But I can empathize as far as having less time for such pursuits. I hope you all find a good balance in your lives going forward. And thanks for your contributions to this community.
  • Whoa, end of an era. I'm sorry to see you guys go, even if I was never a real follower. But I always noticed you guys, if that means anything. Good luck in your future endeavors!

Honestly, I don't know if I can listen to this one. You've been here about as long as I have and we've become pretty good friends. I know this doesn't mean you won't be around the website, but it still hits close to home. I completely understand the need to move on though - it happens to us all...sooner or later. Best of luck to you and your friends. Always felt like I was one of the guys when I listened to you all. Now go out and enjoy your families!
  • Just 3 days ago I was downloading old episodes because I was jonesing that bad for a new one. You told me you were recording Sunday and I'd get to hear how your time with Xcom has been. And then this. I think Curt Shillings would golf clap you guys for this one.

RITC, for me, was less a show and more like time I got to spend with friends I otherwise never see. The 3 of you made my work days more enjoyable and feel shorter. For crying out loud I invited you to my wedding!

I wore your logo on my chest and happily answered when passerby's asked "Whats robot in the corner?" In the last 2+ years there hasn't been a game I've played where I haven't wanted to know "What would Dean, Titus and Wes think of this?" The games I play, shows I watch, and my life in general is more varied and eclectic thanks to you.

This show will be missed. I hope down the road you 3 will be able to do this again (not meaning scheduled episodes but one off shows) I can easily see you guys sitting around talking about a game or movie and I hope you decide to just reach over and hit record.

Wes missed a big opportunity with this. He could have done NEWS TIME! then you say its canceled. :P

Funny you should mention achievements. Since this is the final episode I guess its as good a time as any to announce I managed to surpass Born4this on the RITC leader-board for number of achievements earned. I wanted to hold off on this for a while until I had a commanding lead on him. I also had plans to challenge RITC and the listeners this summer but I guess that's not happening. :(

Really guys? Wow and Star Wars KOTOR? You choose 2 MMOs none of you have played as your desert island game? I would have to go with something I've played and love. And if we're talking online, then the scenario has to involve a community being present for as along as I live. If that's the case then my answer is Battlefield 3.

1 singular movie... Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles!

TV show? EFF lost! I want band of brothers! I don't care if its only 12 hours of content

Dean you need some kinda fan or air purifier in your room. White noise.

I guess now I can remove my shout out to robotinthecorner.com from my xbox bio. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ois60CobLZM
  • This is very sad, but I'm happy for all of you that you are so busy with family and... bikes. RITC was one of the best podcasts I've ever listened to and you guys always blew away the competition (Us). Thanks for all the great laughs and thought provoking conversations you've given us!
  • I'm sorry to hear this is the final episode. Like Daniel, Robot in the Corner was one of the best podcasts I've had the pleasure of listening to. I loved every episode. Good luck with all your future endeavors. :)
  • It's sad to see this ending. Wasn't able to listen like I wanted to, but I did enjoy what I heard. Good job guys.
  • I'm really sad now, Dean. you jerk! :'( Kidding aside, I am really going to miss RiTC. So many memories. I'll make sure to spare some change for any robot hobos I meet! :P

I am super sad face! I really hope you all know that I have been a big fan since the first episode I heard. You have been the best, the biggest and the most influential community podcast, something to be very proud of(even though I know you weren't trying to be a community podcast, you always felt like a GIO first podcast). I hope that Dean will come be on our show from time to time, as time allows, and I hope a RITC reunion is already in the works!
  • I know I haven't ever commented much on your podcast blogs, but I've loved every episode of ROITC that I listened to. You guys are an institution (and maybe belong in an institution - joke) around here and it is sad to see you guys ride off into the sunset.
  • As a proud owner of a Robot in the Corner shirt, (I still wear it btw!) I want to thank you guys for all the entertainment, and for all of the amazing things you guys turned me onto (Or brainwashed me into liking XD)You were one of my favorite podcasts, I'm sorry to see you guys go. I wish you guys the best of luck with... life I guess. Its so sad saying goodbye to the best community podcast at GIO (Suck it GIOR!) Goodbye!

Sorry to hear this is the last episode – thanks for contributing to the community for so many years!
