Developers have learned to become excellent con men. They trick the
player into thinking something is their idea, when really the developer
is forcing them to do it. Being a good con man in development can be
valuable when shaping fun experiences, but ultimately game developers
have used their talent in deception to make gamers think ''fun'' is
something entirely different than what it really is. Today's blog will
examine the role of a challenge in games, and what we ought to consider a
true reward for playing games over a long period of time.
