Modded Rapid-Fire Controller Review

Hello gaming community, My name is Corey. I know a lot of you might not know me or know who I am. But I'm a gamer like you. I have been playing games for years now. From the Atari, PC, and PS3. I play a lot of different kinds of games. I’m not a fan of one type of game or am I pushing for what kind of system is better then the other. I have my opinions about different consoles and you can judge if you want. But when it comes to consoles I play the PS3. I have all ways been a Sony PlayStation fan. I love all the features the PS3 has over the Xbox360. Now I know Microsoft is coming out with a new system soon and that’s fine then i’m sure all the xbox gamers will be screaming xbox is better then PS3 then that’s fine it will be better because its a new system. But on the other hand you need to look at Sony. They are doing the same thing they did last time. They are waiting for Microsoft to come out with there new system so they can release there’s the following year. And again Sony PlayStation will have more features then the Xbox. So to get on with this there is something else that I wanted to wright about.
I started looking up online for modded controllers. Now what I was looking for was modded thumb sticks that light up, trigger’s that light up or d pad light up. But what I found when I googled modded PS3 controllers was Rapid-fire controllers. That was the last thing I was looking for. But I started looking into it more and thought about getting one to try out. Now as I looked at many different websites (12 different websites) everyone of them said the same thing. They have the fastest this and the fastest that, ours is easy to understand and program. Well with everyone of them saying the same thing what controller do I go with? So I started digging a little deeper. I started looking at some videos on YouTube and looking at other features they have as far as how many styles and mods they have. Now I'm talking PS3 controllers not xbox360 controllers. Now some of the controllers I will say I have not used them but there are 3 that I do have and tried. I’m just giving my opinion on the other websites and why I did not go with them.
First up was geniusmods.com. Now I did not hang around long on there site because they did not have much to choose from. They have 8 different styles to choose from, they all have the same mods, 3 different modes only, and you can add up to 3 different mods which will cost more. There prices range from $99.99 to $159.96. They offer a full year warranty on all controllers. So now lets narrow it down 8 styles, same mods, 3 modes, and extra mods will cost more. That’s not what I’m looking for.
The second website I was looking into was moddedcontrollers.com. I was in shock with a name like moddedcontrollers.com  you would think they would have more to choose from. Only 2 different controllers. Well what are the choices here ok the PS3 jitter controller is $99.99 well that’s fine if your like most people you are playing MW3 now and jitter was patched and it can not be used in MW3 so this controller is out. Then they have the PS3 Rapid-fire controller for $89.99. This controller only has 5 different  modes of rapid-fire. Plus there list of games that it works for well they need to take left 4 dead off the list because its not out for the PS3 at all. To add to it no returns or exchanges after 7 days. Lets just say I closed that website fast after that.
Next on the list is gamerzicon.com. Now this was looking a little better. They have 8 different controllers to choose from. Plus an option to build your own controller. Then if that's not enough you can buy a refurbished controller if your pocketbook is low on cash. Then when I started checking it out I noticed they charged more if you picked a different color or style controller. I thought that’s fine I don’t mind paying more to be different. Well when I went into build my own controller is when it really hit me. There is only 3 options as far as modes go. A 3 mode, 8 mode, and 3 mode-9 speed (ultimate). When looking at what the ultimate has to offer its really not much more just user programmable, jitter mode (patched in MW3), quick aim, and auto aim. Then I seen patch killer and thought what is that? After searching on there site I can not find any info on what they mean by patch killer. I would think if your going to offer something you would at least explain it. So I decided let me see how much this thing is going to cost me. So you have to choose what option you will want, so I want the best right, so I pick the ultimate. The price jumps really high on just this option. Then the option to choose design really makes the price jump even more. To keep the price low I'm not to worried about the player led’s. But the other options I would like but the price was getting out of hand. One thing I really did like though was the service plan of 60 day’s, 1 year, or 2 years. That was an up for me. So before I committed to buy this controller I decided to look around because a price tag of $179.85 I wanted to make sure I was getting my money’s worth. There prices start at $59.99 and up it all depends if you build your own controller.
Next on the list is gamermodz.com. What can I say about gamermodz.com. Well the lack of designs in controllers, the lack of options in controllers. Or this line they use “ This mod will allow you to set either R1 or R2 for Trigger Rapid Fire making it completely universal for any first person shooter! No other mod for the PS3 gives you this option standard. No other mod is faster in Call of Duty 5 World at War and able to beat the detection like ours!” I’m sorry but I was just at 2 other websites that have the same thing you lie. Well lets see anyway shall we. Now a price tag of $109.99 for all 4 designs of a PS3 controllers not much of a choice. But they do offer a mail in option of  $29.95 OK that's nice. Well anything else as far as a warranty to choose from, no. But there is a big 7 day money back guarantee. Sorry I’m not going with that website either.
So i’m still on my quest to find the perfect modded controller and came across consolecustoms.com. When I found there site I was thinking finally I found a good site that has really good modded controllers. They sell a lot of different mods for your controller like different color thumb sticks, grips, and triggers. They have 4 different modded controllers to choose from that range in price from $89.99 to $104.99. When you check out all the features you can tell the cheaper you go the less mods you get. So I pick the $104.99 controller thinking its going to be great picking some different designs. I thought wrong. All they have is 5 different color controllers to choose from and light up thumb sticks. PS button lights up and change the player led’s. Well I thought they would at least have different designs for there controllers. Again a 7 day warranty not what I was looking for. They have an OK price tag not many choices and a crappy warranty. I’m not going that route.
Now we are off to evilcontrollers.com. OK just like some of the other modded PS3 controller websites out there they talk a big game but they fall hard with nothing to back them up. With a $99.00 price tag is not bad but the rapid-fire options fall short. Only 5 different shells to choose from and you get bullet buttons is really not persuading me to buy a controller from them. The only thing that's going for them is there 12 month extended warranty. So they are out of the question for me so on to the next.
As I'm still searching I come across intensafirestore.com. Again it looks good but still lacking. They had a big list that the controller works with but lacking in the options. Only 8 modes to choose from and some of the modes can be programed. Then they give you options like player led color, grips, and trigger upgrade. But not much on shell design only 7 to choose from and one being the regular black controller. They do offer a 1 year warranty with purchase that's nice to see. But still not what I was hoping for in a modded controller. Prices range from $109.95 and up. It all depends on what you add that will make the price go even higher. Plus only 8 modes of rapid fire is not good at all being that I found one with 10 modes. So yea they are lacking.
The next website I found was rapidmodz.com. Now they have a really big selection of shell designs to choose from. Starting with standard controllers, elite modded controllers, hydro dipped controllers, and polished controllers. They all have 10 modes of rapid-fire to choose from. But this is where they get you is the price tag. If you want to get as cheap as you can but still get the 10 modes you will need to get the black standard controller with nothing added for $107.89. But what is not said is you have to pay extra for jitter, fast reload, quick scope, sniper breath, auto burst, drop shot, zombie mode, and akimbo. So to get all the features on a standard black controller jumps up to $211.01. They do offer a 10 mode ultimate controller for $182.89 that has every mod. You can pick what ever standard color you want but any other options you pick will cost more. Your controller does come with a 60 day warranty but you do have an option to buy a 12 month warranty. Again it comes down to price tag.  So I was not really ready to commit to buying yet but it looked good for that website.
I decided to give up for a wile and check out YouTube and came across a video that someone was showing off a controller from controllerchaos.com so I looked into it. They have the original colors and limited edition. But it does seem like every time I check out the limited edition’s they are out of stock. So I looked into the original colors to see what they had as far as rapid-fire. They have a big list of games that it works with but I think they need to take a couple of games off the list like left 4 dead or maybe all the halo games that are on the list for PS3 games. They do give you options as for the player led’s, PS button led, etc. What gets me is they charge for a on/off button for the rapid-fire mods. I would think it comes with that. How in the hell are you supposed to turn it on in the first place.  They do have a standerd 30 day warranty but you can buy a 1 year warranty. So to get a standard black controller with the master mod and extended warranty jumps the price from $119.98 to $249.92. Yea that's a big price jump for just a standard controller leaving everything stock and just adding on/off button, master mod, and extended warranty. So with that kind of price tag I will hold off for a bit longer and look around.
Now this controller I do have and I hate it. Its from einsteinmodz.com. I have the standard black controller because there are only 5 options for a shell design. They have the player led options, thumbstick color and bullet buttons you can choose. The only thing they have going for them is there warranty you can choose. You can choose from 1 year, 2 year, or life long. I was shocked to see that. I’m not going to get into the story why I have this controller it will take more time. What I don't like about this controller is the fact there is no way you can program the controller at all. What ever modes that its programed with when you get it that's it. Its 10 modes like the rest of the controllers out there. Price tag on this controller starts at $99.95 and up it all depends on what you add to make the price go up. Now don't get me wrong switching between the modes is real easy but you are also limited to what you can use with this controller. The controller is now sitting in my closet collecting dust. It was used maybe one week.
The second controller I have is from gamingmodz.com. At the time of getting this controller they had a holiday special going on and I got a silver PS3 controller, carrying case and all mods for $164.65. I had to jump on that wile it lasted. Now they do have a lot to choose from. They have a lot of shell designs to pick from as well as other options like different led’s, bullet buttons, and additional warranty for 12 months. Prices range from $107.00 up to over $300.00 so they are a bit pricey. Now as far as how this controller works. When you get it programmed right it works great. But it is a real pain to program it. When my friends come over I let them use it because I hate to program it. But like I said when it is set right it works like a dream.
Now for the last controller and the last website. I have to say first that I in no way work for this place or have any association with them what so ever. But I have to give it to this modded controller website. I found them maybe 3 days after I ordered my controller from gamingmodz.com. I found vikingdigital.com on google and I just had to buy there controller. I have to say I'm so happy I did. There controller is called ragnarok and they have 3 different types to choose from. Standard prebuilt controller price is $99.95. With this one you don’t get to choose really anything because its all stock but you do get the 10 mode mod with it. The next option they have is there custom-built controller starting at $109.95. You still get the same 10 mode mod but you get to choose the shell design, led color, thumbstick color, mod switch location, and mod switch color. As all the other websites the price goes up the more you add. This is what sold me on buying this controller was the third option was the programmable USB PS3 Ragnarok controller Starting price $139.95. Yes you read right it connects to your computer by usb so you can customise the mod chip yourself. Same goes as the other controller. You can pick shell color, led color, thumbstick color, mod switch location, and mod switch color. But what tops this controller over the rest is the fact you can connect it to your computer and customise all rapid-fire modes, fast reload speed, and change all other modes from your computer. I have not found any other website out there that can offer this option. Now mind you they only have a 6 month warranty I think it would be better if they could offer an extended warranty. Also a few more shell choices for there controllers would be a big plus. Another thing I found that only one other site had was forums. I have been on the forums  talking with other people getting help and ideas on the controller and getting good speed settings from other players. You cant find that on any of the other websites but one. I did check out the other site and there where no post. Vikingdigital has topped every PS3 controller modding site out there. If you buy from anywhere else you waisting your money. Like I said before I in now way work for vikingdigital or have any association with vikingdigital I’m just a happy customer.
So to end this I have to say after all the searching I've done and the controllers that I did use vikingdigital is #1 on my list of modded controllers. If there is anyone out there who would like me to give a review on any PS3 gaming hardware please send me a message. I will be more then happy to to try out any hardware and give an honest review. There is a list of all the websites I reviewed at the bottom. Please leave a comment or if you have any questions please don't be afraid I will answer any questions. Thank you for reading
