Video Review - Final Fantasy XIII-2

Per the standard, the full written review can be found here.

Acquiring and troubleshooting the console capture equipment delayed this review a bit, as I had to go back to capture most of the gameplay and order additional components. Unfortunately, until I can get the equipment to cooperate, we're stuck at 480p for now. This will be the last time I ask you to suffer through the cheap mic, as a new one is already in the works of being purchased.

Again, I appreciate all feedback; be it suggestions, words of encouragement, or dance move advice....strike that last part. I am looking to see if there are upcoming games you would like to see a video review for so post them below!

  • You're a genius and it frustrates me to no end these (two now, right?) don't get more attention. I know the hard work, time and energy that must go into producing this and they are amazing. Don't let the lack of attention discourage you...I'm going to make it my personal mission to promote the heck out of these...they truly are wonderful. Change nothing. But just promise me you'll do one for Future Soldier if and when it releases.

(One thing I might recommend, don't post it on the weekend...post it on TUE or WED when blogs seem to get the most views...community activity seems lower on weekends, otherwise change nothing)
  • Wow that was amazing. Did you get all the stuff for the video by playing the game yourself? I have to say that was pretty sweet and I wish that GI did more stuff like this. Watching reiner and phils is kinda a reason I like them so much is I get to see what the game is like and it has influenced me in getting stuff.

great work I hope to see more of these in the future.

  • Well done sir. This was a great video review. It was both informative and had a bit of humor that actually had me laughing aloud.

Personally, I lost interest in the series back in the Playstation era, but I do still hold out hope that one day it will my interest will be renewed. In the meantime, I think I'll just stick with Mistwalker's RPGs and the Tales series, which have surpassed Final Fantasy, in my opinion.

  • Wow, awesome! I always loved the video reviews on The Escapist because they allow you to actually see what the reviewer is talking about during the review. Good work bud, and I hope you get more attention for your videos in the future.

  • Excellent review Craig!

I personally prefer video review to written ones (Which is why I usually go to The Escapist for all game reviews... that and i'm usually already going to The Escapist anyways) so i hope to see more you're future videos!

  • Very good once again.  I have always wanted to do this, in fact I even bought the equipment and software to make it happen. Though I see there is now a device that does full 1080p externally. I have the hauppauge and it does 720p but not 1080.  Anyway, I know that it is a megaton of work to put one of these together, because even in my vague, pathetic attempts, it took several hours.  You do a great job and honestly are better doing this than many other places that have a whole team of people working on video reviews.  Definitely going to be bragging you up some more on The Indie and Mojo show, and I hope once our guest list dies down a bit you will be willing to come on with us and discuss many things, including your stellar video reviews.

I should probably sell my Hauppage. But I won't, you never know when I may get motivated!

  • @Saint Sound advice, I'll be sure to post them during weekdays from now on. I greatly appreciate the promotion and encouraging words. And yes, future soldier is on my radar.

@firedude Thanks for the kind words! I capture every bit of footage myself and edit it all together.

@Chris_Mrkvicka Glad you liked it, and I have high hope for the series as well, it's hard to live up to the classics!

@Cody_Bauman Much appreciated! Video reviews are always nice to have alongside a written one for those looking to actually see the game in action.

@thejourneyman66 The Escapist is a personal influence, never get tired of watching those!

@Mojomonkey12 I noticed one product a bit steeper in price that can capture 1080p, just a matter of waiting a few weeks before I can purchase it. Can't thank you guys enough for the shoutouts on the show, and I'd be more than happy to come on when your schedule clears up!

This is excellent, Craigaleg! Not only is the video informative and well put together, but I also like the more serious approach you took to it -- it reminded me of watching a PBS news report. Please keep up the great work!

    Nicely done. I'm impressed!

  • Staff

Well done man. Now I don't need to play the game.

Excellent video review. If you don't mind me asking, how long did it take you to put that together?
  • Oh man, if we could get video reviews along with the written reviews for the site I would be sooooo stoked.
  • Color me impressed.
  • It makes me sad that Final Fantasy is no longer worth my time...

    Great review, Craigaleg. Very professional!

  • good work! Please make more in the future if you find the time!

  • This was well done.  I can see a future of reviewing games for a site or mag in your future good sir.

  • Fantastic video!
