Look Out For - République is the first installment in a new blog series (call Look Out For) in which I describe upcoming or already-released games that you may not have heard of. This is by no means a regular series, but I will release another installment when I find a game worth mentioning. Today's game is called République and it's developed by Camouflaj.

What is it?

République is a stealth game coming to iOS in the summer of 2013. There is also a version for PC coming at a later time. It follows the story of a woman named Hope. What's interesting about this game to me is the gameplay. It isn't like anything I've ever seen before. The gameplay revolves around the player using the touchscreen to zoom in and hack into various objects (cameras) while leading Hope stealthily around the map.

The History

One of the developers working on this game worked on both Metal Gear Solid 4 and Halo 4, so we can assume that this new game has some great talent working on it. Also David Hayter will be doing the voice of the Overseer and Jennifer Hale with be doing the voice of Hope, so the voice acting talent is there as well.

Connection to the Community

Camouflaj is very much connected to the community and listens to our concerns. Originally, République was going to be an iOS only game, but following consumer feedback, the game will now be going to the PC as well. The PC version won't be a simple port; it will completely utilize all of the features the PC has available. Another way that Camouflaj is trying to connect with the community is with their podcast entitled Camouflaj Radio. This isn't a podcast to simply talk about gaming or République; it's a behind the scenes look at the development of République. You can listen to or download the podcast off of iTunes today.
