The lights are on
People have their favorite games that they love to tout at every person that doesn't run away from their maniacal hilarity. But there are some games that are just so great, every gamer must experience in their lifetime. It would be impossible to list all the must played games, but here they are:
Super Mario Bros. - NES
Not necessarily the first game ever, but it should be. The savior of the video game world, Mario single-handedly revived the video game industry after the famous Great Video Game Crash. The game was fantastic, awesome, and fun. It is mandatory for every gamer who wants to call themselves a gamer to play this. It is the originator.
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time - N64
Of course this game would show up, wouldn't it? What is usually called the greatest game of all time, OoT actually lives up to the hype. With combat that still holds up even after all these years, boss battles that defined epic, and the Big Goron Knife, this game must be played. Mario revitalized the gaming industry, Zelda did it again later (somehow). Mario created 3D, Zelda perfected it. Whatever Mario does, the Legend of Zelda series swoops in and grabs the trophy. Also, OoT is probably most well known for the infamous Water Temple.
Metal Gear Solid - PS1, Gamecube (Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes)
What can arguably be called the best PS1 game (right next to, you know, FFVII), it's the game that brought stealth to the masses (please aim that gun somewhere else Thief fans). The story of Solid Snake is a long one, but those who stayed with the soldier usually started here, and with good reason. The moments garnered from this title alone would fill a GI Top Ten, like shooting down the Hind D, finding the link between Solid and Liquid, and meeting an old friend. It's the Resident Evil of stealth games, except with a cohesive story.
Street Fighter II - Everything
The founder of fighting games, everyone has played SFII in some form or another. I don't even know how to accurately describe the awesomeness of SFII. I'll just let all the days spent fighting my brother (using Ken) speak for itself.
All of these were super sick titles. I still held Golden Eye as the best shooter ever until Uncharted 2 came out. Of course its still the best FPS
Great choices BatmanPrime. While of course we all likely have some additional ones to add, I agree with yours 100%. I haven't gotten around to playing Okami, but I definitely plan to sometime.
Does Okami(Wii) count? I can still here the terrible sound from Ghosts n Golbins. I guess I'm going to be picking up Metal Gear in the future. Thanks for the suggestions.
I agree with almost every title on here. Great list!
I agree with everything but the choice of "Ghosts'N Goblins". The ending is simply ridiculous... Not only do you have to replay the entire game to beat it, look at the ending screen:

"Congratulation. This is happy end." Seriously, I'd be ticked if I spent that kind of time going through a game and that was the reward.
Nice list. I'd agree with the whole is the list that needs to be played by all gamers, no matter what age they are or what games they are into. These are the best classic games out there.
personally i think that super mario bro,s is an exxelent game. i highly recomend it if your 50!
Great games and I feel quite proud that I have played through, beaten and own all the games you've listed. Can't wait to see what your second part entails!
Great list. Most of these are on my list of must-plays already. Of course, some of them may have to wait a while. The M-rated ones, I mean.
Great list. I'll have to play Zelda sometime.
Nice list, I also want to recommend Panzer Dragoon Saga as a must play for everyone that is into RPG's. If you have a Saturn and can afford the game do it, you will not be disappointed in the least.
Yep i agree with you many of these titles
I love that goldeneye is on here. Great list but I can think of a few games I've had for 360 I've liked more than bioshock, not that it isn't great too.
All amazing titles. You have great taste my man!
Great list...I still play goldeneye and ocarina of time to this day. All of these games are classics, but there are of course additional sub genre classics that must be played depending on your interest. ex. final fantasy, mortal kombat, etc.
What does it even mean to be a gamer?? it's not just a person who plays video games. I go into detail in my blog. Great list though, couldn't agree more. I hate to be a fan boy, but FF7 should be up there ;D
