Meet Game Informer's New Video Editor

by Wade Wojcik on Oct 06, 2014 at 12:36 PM

I'm thrilled to be the newest member of the Game Informer team. My name is Wade Wojcik (that's me on the right), and I'll be helping to produce online video content such as Replay and Test Chamber. It's a bit surreal to be at GI headquarters surrounded by people I've known about for years. As a kid I read the issues cover-to-cover with the hopes of one day being able to contribute to the gaming community.

With a combined passion for filmmaking and gaming, I've always been eager to see the two artforms combine in new and exciting ways. The motion-captured realism of pieces such as the 2007 "Starry Night" promo for Halo 3 signified a large step toward combining gaming with truly cinematic storytelling. We all experience an emotional resonance in the theaters, and I love that we live in a time when games are exploring a similar dramatic landscape.

I'm a Zelda gamer through and through, falling instantly in love with Ocarina of Time at age 10 (real original, I know), but it only narrowly beats out Halo, Warcraft, and BioShock. Games that have deep lore and provocative characters will always win my heart. I think gamers have a particular privilege in that we are invited to explore emotional dilemmas in a vast array of interactive, fictional settings.

In my free time I shoot short films. Anyone who does film in the Twin Cities knows that there's a strong indie community who are devoted to helping feature films come to Minnesota (like the golden age of Mighty Ducks). A few friends and I are part of this effort through our Halo fan film, "Dawn Under Heaven".

We build game accurate armor from scratch, create sci-fi environments, and do our best to work within Bungie's universe to expand the fiction in a way that fans will would enjoy.

I can't wait to get started. Thanks for reading my post, and you can reach me via email or Twitter if you'd like to drop me a line.

Cheers!
