UPDATED: A Song Of Ice And Fire: The Wait Is Almost Over

If you haven't read George R.R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire series yet, you're missing out on the best fantasy series. And I mean THE best. The third book in the series, A Storm of Swords, is my all time favorite book. I even go out of my way to tell people that this series blows away J.R.R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings books. Big words, I know.
George R.R. Martin still hasn't finished the series yet, so there is a chance it could jump the shark in one of the upcoming releases, but the four books he's released so far are must-reads for any fantasy nut. Make sure you read the books before HBO's television adaptation hits in 2011. Sure, it could be brilliant (especially with the all-star cast they've assembled), but I live by the rule "I have to read it before I see it."
I can't wait for the HBO series, and seeing that it hits in under a year's time, I figured I would send along a note to you so you have the time to properly digest this epic story. Consider it fun homework. And before you run out the door, check out this spoiler-free trailer.
