The lights are on
Fanboys (and girls) are a special breed in the gaming world. With their zealous enthusiasm they single-handedly have the ability to make or break games, breathe life back into flailing franchises and (if they use their powers for evil) start flame wars across the Internet. Their undying devotion for a developer, game or character has spawned web-rings, epic works of art and the desire to participate in the ultimate fan tribute – cosplay. This weekly blog highlights some of the best cosplay found around the net. These fans put their blood, sweat and tears into their work, and it shows.Who: The CharacterAmy Sorel, Soul Calibur 4, 1st player defaultWhy: The DecisionI seriously love this character. I grew fond of her when I read her story and became a fan once I unlocked her in SC3. Her swift and perfect movements makes her elegant, beautiful and deadly.”What: The ProcessPerfecting the costume took about two months total, although that's scattered within a span of 1 year (work and life gets in the way ~__~). Getting a PS3 helped a lot, because it allowed me to view the details clearly, and view the dress from different angles (even saw her red bloomers). The toughest part was getting the prints on the pink part of the coat right. I had to skim every photo on the net and have my PS3 turned on while manually painting it using textile paint. Not perfect, but I gave it my best. This is a labor of love, and had a lot of help from Manang Noli (for the coat and dress), Dukesa (for the wig), and Mang Carding (for the sword) in completing the look.Price Breakdown:Wig: 42.48 USDBoots: 42.48 USDSkirt, corset, top, bloomers: 63.72 USDThigh-high fishnet stockings with rose patterns: 4 USDLaces, ribbons, skulls, etc: 10 USDContact lenses: 19 USDWhere and When: The DebutDebuted at Cosplaymania 2008, SM Megamall, Philippines.Won 3rd place in Mangaholix 2009Photoshoots:UP Diliman - First shoot (Taken by Alex Gervacio)SM Megamall (Taken by Keith Lorenzo)World Trade Center ~ Le Pavillon - 2nd Set (taken during the Mangaholix convention) (Taken by Keith Lorenzo)Links: The Cosplayer

OMG! Another great Amy Cosplay! I love the red contact lenses and she has a really pretty face. Comparing both Amy's, it's hard to chose. Thanks for another great cos-blog Megan!
Haha! Yeah, they both are fantastic - unique in different ways! Soul Calibur seems to be a very, very popular series. I think a third of my blogs feature SC costumes :P
Another awesome cosplay! :)
I prefer the really fat guys in the Sailor Moon costumes. I don't know if it's just me but I hold the brave and insane in the highest regards. Sure, any hot chick can throw on a green onesie and *poof*, Cammy. No big, right? But when I see a 38 year old man who's survived his entire life off of Hot Pockets, Mountain Dew, Cheetos and pizza squeeze himself into those boots and skirt and WORKS THAT FLOOR.....Ugghhh!... yes indeed, son! That's my jam right there. That's the beauty of the human soul made flesh.
Ghostpig, you must be a big fan of Man-Faye
Uhm, who isn't?
I am now. That dude gets my "American Hero of the Week" award for life. I owe you a beer for this, Meagan.
Another great cosplay blog! Does she have red contacts or did the camera give her red-eye?
Ghostpig - It's my civic duty. No need for thanks.
Perfect.Disaster - she has red contacts! That's one area I've never been able to dive into. I bought green contacts for my Aphrodite IX costume and kept them in for thirty seconds before my eyes burned till the point of tears.
Very well done Megan. If this outfit ever goes on the market, I'll see if my wife will get it ;) On another note, I had no idea that this hobby was so popular! I once met a guy who made a working beer keg costume, but this is on a whole different level...
Funny as hell Ghostpig. Wow wish I had that sort of skill and craftsmanship. And it was all relatively inexpensive too. How much was the rapier? Sorta weird the wig and boots would cost the exact same amount.
I would never pay for a rapier, but walking around in this outfit would difinetly attract them.
Why thanka you-a, Scruffy ol' pal. I gotta be quick on my feet since I'm pretty sure that "cracking wise" is the only quality I have that's keeping me from getting laid off. "Be funny or die!", that sort of thing.
xbjj33q - Working beer keg costume? Are you kidding me!? I was going to be the Walmart water tower for Halloween this year but then this... THIS... Oh awesome possum, Rudy and Larry just gave me the thumbs up on this one. Yup, we'll be combining power tools and beer this weekend. Louisiana public school education system at work right here, folks.
This is a great costume I need to start working on one for fanime
Ghostpig is my new hero....
On another note! Good cosplay. Difficult to say which Amy you have posted I like more. The outfit itself is spectacular in it's own (both cosplays and the character design). And both cosplayers have done amazing jobs at recreating it. Good job to all. This makes me want to finish my Venom costume as soon as possible, but I don't want to rush it and have it come out bad.....
I need to see one of these Sailor Moon cosplayers...next cosblog, perhaps??
great photos....
this is some great work, if we can get a clorie from uncharted 2 that would be great
I really liked that one
