The lights are on
So a funny thing happened back when I started working here at GI (no Andy, it hasn't only been a couple of weeks), I became much more cognizant of that whole video game culture thing. Specifically, all the toys, gadgets, trinkets, apparel, etc that so many gamers fill their lives with. You see, I've been a fan of gaming most of my life, I've just never taken that passion beyond the confines of the game itself. It just never really occurred for me to do so. Yet, when I arrived here at GI, most of the guys were literally drowning in the crap; their desks and persons adorned with anything and everything related to gaming. And it was cool, really cool (well, most of it anyways). So I thought, "eh, why not?"
Being a big Zelda fan, it was only fitting that the first piece to my collection should come from said series, specifically Ocarina of Time. With the help of my wife, my first prized possession came in the form of First 4 Figure's OoT Link statue. And my oh my is it pretty...and big...but just mostly pretty. And of course I love it. So much so that I'm already eyeing what my next piece should be. Here's what I'm considering:
Good 'ol Aerith. Pretty *** if you ask me. Although it's rather large and not the cheapest thing around.
Ok, this one is even more *** than Aerith. Unfortunately, this guy is hard to come by these days as he's practically sold out everywhere and if you do find him, you'll pay a premium.
Hmm, more FFVII. Not bad. And that sword appears to be large enough for me to use as a skewer when I'm making shish kabobs at my desk.
This one could be a *** to find, but it would be well worth it in my opinion. Not sure how I feel about the whole "hi, I'm standing on a Gamecube" pose, but it's novel nonetheless. And finally...
Indiana Jones. The skin color is a tad bit off, but this is one mighty fine looking statue. Is that jacket actually made out of leather?!
So, what say you?

i like link on the gamecube
Go, Fierce Deity. Thats so badass. And its obscure enough that people who haven't played MM won't know it. Then you could be a gamer snob like most of us gamers like to be (well, maybe thats just me). Also, I think Link is standing on that Gamecube to say, "Well, what else is worth playing on this system other than Windwaker. Seriously?" At least thats my interpretation of that piece of art. :)
Where is an awesome Samus statue? WHERE?!
I say go for Aerith. It appeals to those that love her and those that hate her. If you love her, the pose and expression are beautiful. If you hate her, it will act as a constant reminder that she's about to buy the farm.
Also, like the Wolverine stress ball next to your Link statue :P
Go with Indiana Jones...he is the man!
I'd go Fierce Deity. In terms of pure badass awesomeness, he beats out all the others.
You're right about Indy, if his skin tone was right, he could be Harrison Ford in mini form. SCARY realistic.
Where can I get one of those Indy statues?
Hahaha, nice. I to became more interested with all the action figures and the likes when i started gettin more into videogames. Its amazing some of the details people put into these action figures, fan or not of the games, their always nice to look at.
The Fierce Deity statue looks epic. Even though it's rare, imagine the victorious feeling you'll get after spending your entire paycheck on it.
Nice, I wish I had room for collectibles like that in my home.
I say you should go for that badass Fierce Deity Link.
You could buy any of the Link statues for me. PM me for where to mail them. :P
Seriously though, I pick up all sorts of gaming trinkets, but I've seen some nice statues I'd like to have. I might start getting one now and then once I get my new house next year for my game room.
The Fierce Deity Link statue is pimpin.
The obvious choice here is the INDY statue. No question buy it!
"I've just never taken that passion beyond the confines of the game itself."
This is exactly how I feel.
Important note: When I hit "Add a comment", the page should automatically scroll down to the comment textfield. This is your friendly user-experience wife reminding you to remind them.
Other important note: That Link bobblehead is kickass and you need to find it. Just think of it, Link and Goldie side-by-side, with bobbling heads!!
I know what you mean, Jeff. When I was in the GI office, I was shocked when I saw the huge amounts of swag. It's everywhere!
I like Meg's NES controller flower pots the best though.
If it were me, I'd take Link first
Of course luck would have it that most of you think I should go for the statue that is, by far and away, the hardest and most expensive to obtain (Fierce Deity Link). I love the Aerith statue and Meagan makes a great point about it pissing off and pleasing people at the same time (nice call Meagan). But being a huge Zelda fan, it's hard to not want to add another artifact to the "collection".
I love Square Enix produced figurines....to bad their only retail store is in TOKYO >: / but you can get Square goodies online....I loves your Deity Link...oh the effort I put into getting the Deity Mask *shivers* Majora was a creepy bas*$%d
oni link. if not that then sephiroth all the way
