Kids (My Nephews) Review New Super Mario Bros. Wii

by Annette Gonzalez on Dec 01, 2009 at 05:57 AM

Over the Thanksgiving holiday I brought home New Super Mario Bros. Wii to play with my nephews who are 9 and 10 years old. After spending some time with the Wii title they decided to write their own reviews on the game. I think they’re just trying to take my job. They definitely surprised me with their work and it’s certainly refreshing to get the perspective of a younger generation of gamers (kids are awesome). Read on to get their unedited take on New Super Mario Bros. Wii.

“When I tried this game, it was so cool! The graphics are really nice. This game deserves the best Wii game of 2009. World 2 is actually confusing to do. I think World 3 is fun because you are able to use the penguin suit. My favorite power-ups are the propeller mushroom, ice flower, and the penguin suit. I like the propeller mushroom because you shake the Wii remote and you get to fly around everywhere! I like the ice flower because you get to freeze enemies with it, and when the enemy is trapped in there, you press 1 and shake the Wii remote and the ice breaks and the enemy is gone! I like the penguin suit because you get to slide on your belly only on the ice platforms in World 3. I also like how this game is 4-player and Mario, Luigi, the Yellow Toad, and the Blue Toad. The stages in the beginning of the game are easy except the World 2 stages because they are hard to do. I also like how there are ghost houses in the game like the DS version of the game. Super Mario fans are excited for a new game out now and I'm sure they are going to have a bunch of fun with this adventure-packed game with 8 worlds based on the Nintendo DS game “New Super Mario Bros.” which was released in 2006. This was my review of New Super Mario Bros. Wii.”

“This is my review of New Super Mario Bros Wii. Basically it’s the same thing as the DS, but the Wii version has different power-ups, 4-player action, plus more. The different power-ups are propeller mushrooms, penguin suits, and ice flowers. Propeller mushrooms can make you fly. To do so, shake the Wii remote up, NOT DOWN! Penguin suits make you belly slide and swim. Belly slide by using down on the control pad while dashing. Swim by using the control pad and 2. Ice Mario can turn enemies into ice by using 1. Break the ice by holding 1 and shaking the Wii remote. When you lose all your lives you can continue. You get infinite amount of continues. This game lets you play as Mario, Luigi, and toads. It all started on Peach's birthday. Suddenly a strange ship came and took Peach! Now Mario, Luigi, and the toads are going to rescue Peach from Bowser's henchmen. Some of the levels in the game look real confusing. Green and red mushroom houses have minigames to win lives and items. Out of all Mario games I've played this is a true experience, and the best game I played for the Wii. I'd give New Super Mario Bros. Wii a 10 out of 10.”
