GI Show – Street Fighter V, Fire Emblem Fates, Game Music Favorites

by Tim Turi on Feb 19, 2016 at 09:00 AM

The final Game Informer show I'll ever co-host is also one of the most significant weeks for video game releases this year. We kick things off by talking with Brian Shea about Street Fighter V, the latest entry in Capcom's long-running fighting game series. Next up is Javy Gwaltney with Fire Emblem Fates, who has poured dozens of hours into both versions of the story-heavy turn-based strategy game. We also touch on Shovel Knight's excellent co-op mode and an obscure Nintendo downloadable.

The second half of the show begins like most email segments before dipping into complete mushiness as your host Ben Hanson embarrasses me with with the kind words of Game Informer's fans as I say goodbye. The final segment marks the return of the new and well-liked video game music segment. Jeff Cork, Ben Reeves, Ben Hanson, and I share some of our most beloved tunes from gaming's past and present. Also, sorry, this part of the podcast ends on a pretty sappy note as well.

Oh yeah, if you didn't catch the news, today is my last day as features editor at Game Informer. Thanks to everyone for supporting the rebooted GI Show podcast. It's been so much fun growing this show with all you listeners and viewers, and your support has made it all worthwhile. I hope you continue watching/listening and perhaps I'll be able to swing by the GI offices to crash a future show by dominating Back-of-the-Box Trivia. If you'd like to keep up with my post-GI work, please feel free to follow me on Twitter. Again, thank you so much to everyone for your support and encouragement, and please keep listening to Ben Hanson and rest of the GI staff's excellent work on the podcast every week.

Also, if you're participating in the GI Game Club playthrough of Final Fantasy VII, we'll be reconvening next week to talk about the game more. If you're playing along, read the details about Game Club - Final Fantasy Session 2.
