The lights are on
Nothing is happening in gaming this week, so the GI podcast takes aim at the coming year and gives you a behind-the-scenes look at the shows and conventions that will shape 2013.
Matt Bertz, Andy Reiner, and Jeff Cork join fill-in host Adam Biessener in talking about the year to come. The year starts with the Consumer Electronics Show next week, and we talk about the storied history of that gathering before moving on through DICE, GDC, E3, Gamescom, and more. Hundreds of headlines take form at each of these shows, but they each have a unique character and occupy a particular place in the ebb and flow of the annual video games calendar – so listen in for a more holistic perspective on the yearly gaming schedule.
We even manage to mostly avoid kvetching about the long work days covering these events entails for us journalists. Mostly.

Excellent talk.
Now that you've listened to this episode, go into the hub and find the 2012 prediction episode. I enjoy going back with hindsight and listening to the predictions.
I really do hope that Sony and Microsoft announce their next consoles this year, I mean surely they will, right...? As great as this generation has been, I have to agree with the Reiner; it's gone on a little too long.
Great show as always guys :)
Interesting subject for the podcast.
Blizzcon's back this year btw.
Thanks you!
Bioshock came out in August dawg
I agree what was said about the new generation consoles. As a PC gamer, I'm not worried that I'll suddenly be left behind. The games will be very well optimized, for sure, and I welcome the new technology, but that's it.
Regarding E3, you mustn't forget that there will be some stuff nobody knows about before going there. We get a few surprises every time so there will surely be some interesting stuff besides the games we already know are coming out soon.
Wonderful GI Show! Some nice insight on the year ahead and what to expect from the big conventions and upcoming games releases. I always enjoy the weekly show.
Gotta listen!
Good talk
