Special Edition Podcast: E3 2011

This year, we decided to record our podcast right from the belly of the beast: the L.A. Convention Center in the heart of E3. Host Matt Helgeson is joined by GI editor in chief Andy McNamara who has seen as many of the games, systems, and behind-closed-doors revelations at the show as is humanly possible. In this podcast, you get all the inside dope straight from the guys who've seen it all.

  • Cool,I wasn't doing anything...but now I have something to do!

    DJ hero mics LOL

Yes,I will buy Ico collection.I cannot wait to play that game for the first time,I hope it doesn't disappoint.
  • Isn't this technically gamer gorilla radio, as Macnamara has ventured out once again?

  • Really no Old republic!!!!!
  • Too much to talk about just in one podcast. What didn't you like? What would you have liked to see more of?
  • You guys did a good job with this podcast, despite how tired you two sounded.  I just wish I could go to E3, there are SO many demos that I would try out.

  • call of duty is not more of the same awesome, it is more of the same horrible. And are you kidding ME3 and skyrim should be best of show, I am not a fan of bioshock but I don't know how anyone could think it beats Skyrim, ME3, and uncharted 3 (those will be some of the best games of all time in my opinion so no offense is meant to bioshock) (this is considering that me2 and oblivion were my first and 3rd favorite games of all time
  • Good episode, but you guys sound thrashed. Get some rest!

  • So many great things to see at this E3 as always. Just wanted to take this opportunity to say I wish there wasn't so much division between gamers. I hate all the fanboy crap over consoles and games. Battlefield, Modern Warfare 3, Nintendo or Sony or Microsoft no one cares who you hate more. We're all fans of video games right. I'm no hippy I just rather hear about what people find exciting rather than what they think sucks. It's always better to give positive feed back if you really want to see something flourish and grow. For instance even if you didn't necessarily like a product like the Kinect trashing it is no good for anyone I'm sure we can all agree it's good that it exists if not for the simple fact that it grows the industry and that can lead to some astonishing things in the future. Call me crazy but I love all of it.
  • Always love the GI podcast and you know why? These guys actually love playing games, all kinds on all consoles. They aren't out to magnify every little problem with everything they come across. While acknowledging flaws and that almost no game or console is perfect, they also see the possibilities for greatness. Instead of making nitpicking comments at every little thing the entire time, they point out the positive elements as well. I listened to the Gamespot podcast today (never again) and the difference is night and day. Most of the GS guys nitpick, b*tch, and moan about everything like old hipster gamers that are bitter they aren't designing games themselves. Thank you GI, you guys always make me excited to be a gamer and your reviews, news stories, and podcasts will keep me coming back.

  • Good podcast! Also, does anyone know how to get tickets to E3?
  • Overall I got all the excitement I expect out of E3 every year, nothing incredibly outstanding but almost everything amazing.

  • I liked the video podcast special edition for E3 :(

  • Yeah e3 seemed pretty divisive this year. I actually like most of the press conferences, maybe with the exception of Microsoft's - not that I thought it was bad, I just found it the most... lackluster of the three -, but there's definitely a ton of people really ripping on the three press conferences. Super psyched for all those november games even if my (nonexistent) wallet isn't; but hey, that's what summer jobs are for! Oh, and get some rest guys. You all sound like you need it. Have fun w/ the rest of e3 :)

  • "some sh-- some trick" niiice. So jealous of you lucky guys. Thanks guys for all your coverage. :)

  • I am sorry, but I really don't like Andy's voice. And Matt, you seem kind of scared of him the whole video. "Buy this game." "OH YA BUY IT, BUY IT SO HARD." I see....

  • 1st. Sony 2nd. Nintendo 3rd. Microsoft
  • i need to hear more!!! MORE!!!

  • @Andy: The first time I played Mass Effect, I thought "Wow this is how a Star Trek game should be." If someone just make a ME-clone and branded it with the Star Trek license, would you like that?
