The Game Informer Show Episode 24

Another week, another Game Informer Show, and this one is jam packed with some heated discussion. First off is Splinter Cell: Conviction, with Andy Reiner and Ben Reeves dropping by to give some more insights into the game, which looks like a rebirth of one of Ubisoft's flagship franchises. In the second segment, Dan Ryckert reports back from a recent Konami press event, where he saw a new Castlevania title in action as well as some under-the-radar gems. Finally, Matthew Kato, Bryan Vore, and Phil Kollar join host Matt Helgeson to delve further into the sordid Infinity Ward/Activision breakup, the mass exodus of development talent from Infinity Ward, and the newly formed Respawn Entertaiment. We speculate on what this messy incident means for the future of Call of Duty, Activision, and how it could benefit the industry's other giant publisher, Electronic Arts.

NOTE: The Game Informer Show usually goes live on Thursday night. Last night we were having some technical issues with the media server. We apologize for the delay.

  • good there is one this week.  i was scared when this wasn't posted last night.  i love gi podcasts :)

  • I had the same fear as Timothy. I am glad there is a podcast this week.

  • Good show. Splinter Cell sounds awesome. Hopefully we'll see a Metal Gear on the 360(didn't care for MGS2 on the OG Xbox), but until then, this Splinter Cell will do nicely.

I agree that West and Zampella's hiring by EA looks shady, and i'm glad that the GI staff weren't as biased as these rabid fanboys are, and pointed out EA's sordid history with it's employees. Not excusing Activision's wrong doing, but you'd have to admit that going to EA was a well placed jab at Activision.

Good luck to West and Zampella. I'll be looking forward to their future projects. And hopefully, MW won't change too much.
  • Even though I have to stay up until 1:30am (in my timezone i'm Australian, I enjoy listening to your podcasts) you guy are pretty awesome

    mate.

  • I just beat Splinter Cell Conviction today, it was awesome. There was some extremely hard parts, and there was a shocking twist about three fourths of the game through, but this one was the best one, also I am very sad there won't be any more Splinter Cell games, but for this to be the last one, it was FANTASTIC!

  • Great podcast. Splinter Cell looks like a good game. I have one last remark...Jack Bauer is the best!!!

  • 1.Conviction is going to be my entry into Splinter Cell, looking forward to it.

2.The thought that the Infinity Ward debacle could be a catalyst for higher respect of the talent in development is a thought I never had before. One can only hope this kind of insanity never happens again.

3.What's wrong with Respawn for a name of a studio?

  • Splinter Cell conviction looks awesome, I want to kick some faces, down a stairway!

  • I'm loving SC: Conviction. I'm almost done with my second playthrough on singleplayer, and I'm when I'm done, I'm going for playthrough #2 in co-op.

  • Splinter Cell Conviction plot hole: If 3rd E. had spent less $ on lasers, then the Pres. wouldn't have tried to cut 3rd Echelon's funding. Bet you Voron doesn't have lasers- oh and look, they don't whine about funding. God I love the American Government.

  • Lol, Gona check out Splinter Cell: Conviction once ive finished Afro Samurai, Wasnt expecting to still be playing it but its just painfulll to play.

Activision = Drug dealers. Yup lol.

Respawns new IP will be my robot assassin FPS. :P

  • splinter cell friggin rocks!!! preordering was totally worth it!

  • Respawn should create the first great revolutionary war game

  • so wait now EA has the battlefield and Modern warfare team *well 93%* jk of them

so that means they have two of the greatest fps. poor activison. i feel bad for them.

  • nice:)

  • I love the introduction song.
