  • i just got done listening to the last podcast and as i clicked back to home this one appeared, you guys are good at this :P

  • Well I thought my question was really cool and you guys didn't answer it :(

  • When the hell are you guys going to put up today's feature for the Portal 2 hub?

  • @Kvick

The same thing happened to me haha

  • Best intro song so far.

Aww, you guys didn't answer my question...but you answered the one about your favorite toys!? Where is the justice in that?

  • yay another special edition podcast!!!!

  • Yay! They like my name!

But aaw, It's not coming out on the ps3.

  • I honestly cannot wait for the new GLaDOS dialogue. When I heard her say that GLaDOS will go "Smooth jazz will commence in 5... 4... 3..." my Hype meter shot up to about 90000%.

  • How is Chell Human, but lives for hundreds of years ~_o
Come on guys, in Portal GLaDOS refers to an android and now chell is back in the facility after being thrown out in some sort of tornado and its far into the future. Obviously shes an andriod.
    -Edit-
Ok so you explained how Chell could have gotten back into the facility and if its a patch then I guess its what Valve had intended but... Im going to stick with my idea that Chell is an andriod, in Portal 2 Chells memory bank has been uploaded into a new body, because I saw the new character designs and obviously they look different. Guess we will just have to see what happens when its here.
  • I made a profile just to say this: Chell is an android.
GLaDOS makes this apparent when she mentions "android hell" is real and Chell will go there if the misbehaves (or something like that, also the only example I could think of)
Chell being an android is significant for 2 reasons:
    1) She was the one who wrote the messages (kind of). Previous iterations of Chell writ on the walls as warning for Chells to come. Aperture science (or maybe GLaDOS on her own) created an android as the perfect test subject, and one that could be replaced if something... erm... happened.
    2) Chell most likely did the same for the 'hundreds of years' that take place between the game. She's a robot, she can't 'die'. Her batteries might die, or she might have something happen during testing, but if so, she can just be replaced.
That is all, thanks for the Portal 2 updates, very much looking forward to the game
Also, I wish one of these updates was the PC requirements. That would be simple and useful.
    Cheers :)
  • Staff

@shriketheavatar: This is the Portal 2 hub feature for today.

  • @Everyone saying Chell is an android:

GLaDOS does say something about androids, but that is because you are in a chamber designed "for military androids", as she says at the beginning. Also, she stays alive or hundreds of years because she was in some kind of stasis, which is in the GameInformer article. Stupid people :(

  • Cool Podcast. I'm relieved to hear its at least coming out on Xbox 360. Is this going to be a full priced game however? I don't want to pay $60 for 3-4 hours of puzzle solving, no matter how clever the solutions are.

Next week would you mind doing a segment on WarioWare D.I.Y.? There haven't been a lot of Nintendo game focused podcasts (although you talk plenty about the hardware) and this is a game that looks interesting and has gotten great early reviews. A Red Steel 2 segment also couldn't hurt. Heck, just make next week all Nintendo week for a change since we all know Valve will never make any games for those systems. Q(`~`Q)

  • BOOOO!!! @GLaDOS

    Get off the stage!!!

Chell is an android, I refuse to accept her as human.

  • @Shatterhand:

Yes, and it will be not only puzzle solving.

  • Well, that sucked. You revealed so little information that this can barely even called an "addition" to our knowledge.

  • The facts on the Chell android theory:
Chell is known to appear in the 2nd game with more than the average lifespan between the two. A few probible causes could be, A. She is an android w/ no biological parts(relevant), B. she is an android w/ biological parts, C. She was frozen.
In the very beginning of Portal, Glados makes a few references to harvesting organs(female specifically).
If you fire two portals in the original portal side by side(Ol0), step in one half way and face the other, you see a perfect profile of Chell, stay a while and you will notice her eyes do not follow a human pattern.
The fact that Chell's brain has a back up does not mean that it is fully mechanical. CJohnson had his brain downloaded as well.
    Chell has no hometown.
In Glados' final insults, she claims that Chell is an orphan. Although ussualy we have to interpret everything she says as false, this is possibly true.

My two cents, she is a cyborg, not an android. She is kept "alive" by implants and harvested organs after each of her deaths. If she were an android and completely mechanical, she would produce similar results each test.

Also, I found a wee bit of evidence pointing to a male Rattmann(you see what I did there)? (Other than the fact that the name is a reference to a male) We know for certain that atleast two test subjects have bypassed the last level and starting exploring the works of the facility. This is evident by the Rattmann signs passed the final testing areas. We can infer also that Glados treats each test subject similarly and in fact may not be able to destingish from two(subject town here).
Now let us examine a qoute... "Didn't we have some fun, though? Remember when the platform was sliding into the fire pit and i said 'Goodbye' and you were like 'NNOO WWAAYY", and then I
was all "We pretended we were going to murder you", that was great." If you remember, the "no way" was a deep male voice. Chell i doubt is responsible for the logged response.

Oh yah, forgot to mention, I support the gameism Glados theory.
  • Good job, as always

  • "Commencing smooth jazz in 5, 4, 3, 2, 1..."

Man, GLaDOS really isn't pulling any punches this time, huh?

  • Since the time takes place far in the future, possibly time travel through the portals??
