The lights are on
Episode 5 of the Game Informer Show kicks off with a freewheeling discussion of Insomniac's Ratchet & Clank: A Crack in Time. GI Editors Matt Helgeson, Andy Reiner, Phil Kollar, and Dan Ryckert discuss some of the game's innovative new features, gripping storyline, and ponder the series' place in platforming history. Next up is our review impressions of one of the year's most intriguing music games, Activision and Freestyle Games' DJ Hero. Matt Helgeson and Matt Miller discuss their review of the game, and wonder if Guitar Hero and Rock Band fans will be willing to take the plunge into the world of dance, hip-hop, and R&B. Finally, we introduce "Reader Mailbag" a new segment featuring GI Editor in Chief Andy McNamara and Nick Ahrens. Here, we answer hard-hitting questions from readers posted in our forums. In one, Andy reveals some of the special features in store for Game Informer's 200th issue, which hits stores next month.

Happy Early 200 Guys!
thanks! it should be a good one...we did special edition covers with some of gaming's great franchises on them, don't want to reveal but one of the covers rhymes with "Ubsy 3D"
I look forward to the 200 best games in the next issue. Awesome segment for a 200th issue!
I LOVE the podcasts. Also, congrats on 200 issues! That's quite an accomplishment. Keem 'em coming, guys.
Question: why do you guys think Insomniac (and their once-partners Naughty Dog) aren't ever thought of as part of that 'A-list' that was brought up right at the end? They make more high quality games more often then anyone else in the industry: Crash Bandicoot, Spyro the Dragon, Jak and Daxter, Ratchet & Clank... Is it just that cartoony, "kids game" feel you mentioned? Or the declined popularity of Platformers? What about the dark and bloody shooter Resistance? At least Naughty Dog is getting the attention they deserve with Uncharted 2, but still. Loving the podcasts, by the way.
K well I was a little worried after hearing discussion on the Insomniac Moon topic so I did some research and found that the moon is unlockable in the game no preorder necessary. Nice podcast anways. Also, big fan of math rock Matt? I don't much care for it but Battles is pretty good.
Good to know, Orbital! Thanks! :)
Aw man! When talking about the games from this generation that will have a lasting impression, you guys didn't mention LittleBigPlanet! That's the most lasting game I've ever played...
The best part about this podcast besides of course the amazing content was the quote "We are Game Informer" lol, it doesn't get better than this, ~to himself~ "You hear that Fox News. Suck it!" ^^
Another excellent podcast. I really enjoy the new mail bag feature of the show. Congrats on 200 issues GI!
Enjoying the podcast, guys. Just one thing, I think it would add a lot if you had an opening theme song that would help identify your show. You know, make it something that would immediately let people know that they're listening to the GI Show.
Orbital is right. In the video about R&C replay features, Insomniac said that capturing all 40 Zoni unlocks a boss battle with Lord Vorsalon which, upon completion, unlocks the Insomniac moon. I agree with Nate; I never get tired of this high quality series (with some very imaginative weapons). Good podcast. Thanks, guys.
Great cast guys, definitely the most interesting one so far.
I have one question, though: where do we go to submit mailbag input? Because there are loads of things I'd like to hear your opinions on.
Happy 200th issue guys!
Loved the episode. I was really surprised on the DJ Hero segment mainly because you guys actually said it was fun and refreshing. I to thought that it was another gimmick but hearing all about it and hearing that it was fun is great news.
Can't wait to see what the 200th issue has in store! Nice job guys.
Lookin forward for the 200th issue
200 hundred!!! sweet and heres to another great 200 issues
Good idea on not including the readers in the making of the top 200 games list. We can't be trusted.
I always wanted to pick up the Ratchet & CLank games, and I think this one finally sold me.
Random generic comment on DJ Hero; DJ Tiesto FTW!... etc, etc.
I've been kicking around picking up DJ Hero this week, very happy to say you guys convinced me. Even though I don't particularly enjoy hip-hop, I really want to support the breath of fresh air the game is injecting into the genre. To my local game supplier!
I love the shout out to Criterion Collection. Ratchet rules.
