Domain Name Registered For Devil May Cry 5

by Derek Swinhart on May 04, 2018 at 12:55 PM

It looks like Devil May Cry 5 will possibly be revealed soon, as the registration showed up for a domain name in the Devil May Cry discord servers. GMO Internet Group are the ones who registered it, and have a history with Capcom, as they did the same with Monster Hunter: World, Resident Evil 7 and most recently, they updated the Resident Evil 2 domain.

Hideaki Itsuno, the director behind Devil May Cry 2,3,4 and Dragon's Dogma has teased as much. He has gone on to explicitly state that his upcoming project will be revealed soon, and Devil May Cry 5 seems the most likely candidate.

This seems to point to an eventual showing, probably in the upcoming slew of announcements and demos from E3. With the Devil May Cry 5 as the title, the studio is most-likely making a direct sequel and skipping out on Ninja Theory and a possible DMC 2. The game was critically well received but many fans were disappointed with the change in direction. It makes sense given the recent release of the HD collection on current-generation consoles, and revealing Devil May Cry 5 at E3 is an easy get.

Our Take:
If true this is great news for longtime series fans, as Capcom is on a hot streak at the moment. If they can channel the same ambition and level of quality that has been showcased in games like Monster Hunter and Resident Evil 7, Devil May Cry 5 could be a great return. Hopefully we will see it at E3, as character action games are few and far between these days. Personally, I just want more Dragon's Dogma.
