Sega Announces Mega Drive Mini Console, Coming To Japan This Year

by Suriel Vazquez on Apr 14, 2018 at 11:48 AM

During its annual Sega Fes event in Japan, Sega announced a new retro-style console called the Sega Mega Drive Mini.

The console will launch in Japan this year. The company has not announced whether the console will make its way to the West, though it seems likely it will, though as the Sega Genesis Mini.

We also did not get any information on which games will be included in the console.

Sega recently licensed the console's appearance to AtGames for the Sega Genesis Flashback console, which included 85 games but suffered from both hardware and software issues.

Our Take
After AtGames' bungled attempt to replicate the NES Classic with the Sega Genesis Flashback, I'm glad Sega-heads get another shot at good nostalgic fun. That said, I'm not really one of them, so I can't claim to want any specific title to make its way to the Mega Drive Mini.
