Microsoft Planning A Major Update For Original Xbox Backwards Compatibility

by Imran Khan on Apr 03, 2018 at 02:33 PM

The next episode of Inside Xbox, Microsoft's own smaller-scale version of a Nintendo Direct, promises to focus on backwards compatibility with promises of a "big update" to start the show.

Episode 2, which airs on next week, promises to bring news about the feature which Microsoft has been pretty quiet about since its introduction. It is likely that Microsoft will announce a number of games getting added to the backwards compatibility list from the original Xbox library.

The next episode of Inside Xbox will air on April 10 at 3:30 PM PDT / 6:30 PM EDT. What original Xbox games would you want them to add? Let us know below in the comments!

Our Take
Backwards compatibility might not set the world on fire, but feature-wise it is a slam dunk for Microsoft. It's a thing they're doing that the competition is not doing, at least in a similar way, so it's something they can point at as a value-add to the Xbox One. Hopefully they try to do more consistent additions rather than waves.
