Gabe Newell: Valve is Going To Start Shipping Games Again

At a reveal event for Artifact, the upcoming digital card game set in DOTA's universe, Valve CEO Gabe Newell talked about his company and made a statement that will surprise (and possibly excite) those who have followed the company's output:

Artifact is the first of several games that are going to be coming from us. So that's sort of good news. Hooray! Valve's going to start shipping games again.

According to PC Gamer, Newell chalks up Valve's sluggish release of games, with 2011's Portal 2 being the last non-VR singleplayer game the company put out, to "investing" in the company's future with its digital storefront Steam as well as hardware innovation. Newell didn't talk about what kinds of games would be coming, but  we know at least three upcoming titles are VR-based

Our Take 
Half-life 3 woes aside, I would love to see Valve put out another original game, even if it's a new IP and not in the Half-Life/Portal/Left 4 Dead family. It's been so long. Hopefully we'll get a closer look at whatever the company is planning soon.
