Dragon Ball FighterZ Player Makes Top 8 At Tournament With Rock Band Keyboard

by Imran Khan on Feb 05, 2018 at 02:12 PM

Choosing between a fight stick and a standard controller is a hard choice for a lot of people hoping to play fighting games competitively, but one player has decided to go in a completely different direction: A Rock Band keyboard.

During the "Revenge of the 6ix" tournament in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, Dragon Ball FighterZ player Gregory Chow decided he was going to really push conventional fighting game controllers to the limit. Chow managed to win five matches, advancing to the top 8 of the 27-person bracket, with a team of Goku, Cell, and Trunks.

You can see video of one of Greg's matches below, but can't quite get a good luck at him tickling the ivories.

Dragon Ball FighterZ is available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. You can check out our review of the game here.

Do you use any non-standard controllers for games because it just makes more sense for you? Let us know in the comments below!

Our Take
I love it when people bring gimmicks to tournaments, because you never know when that gimmick will just wipe the floor with everyone else. When I realized a lot of moves physically moved the Soulcalibur 2 fighters, I decided to try teaching myself how to play that game with the DK Bongos. I never took it to a tournament, but it got me through arcade mode, and that's pretty good.
