Report: Han Solo's First Film Trailer To Make Jump To Hyperspace Next Week

by Robbie Key on Feb 01, 2018 at 02:55 PM

The Star Wars' spin-off film about Han Solo's origins, Solo: A Star Wars Story, will reportedly release its first trailer next week.

Tickets to Good Morning America on Monday, February 5, on iota.com initially had the title "GMA live studio taping (+ 'Solo' exclusive trailer!!!!)," but the part about Solo has since been removed. Luckily, Trailer Track took a screenshot of the original title.

It's rumored a Solo teaser will first be shown during the Super Bowl. The Hollywood Reporter also says Mission Impossible: Fallout, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, Amazon's Jack Ryan series, and the Cloverfield sequel, God's Particle, among others will have trailers as well.

Solo stars Alden Ehrenreich and Donald Glover as Han Solo and Lando Calrissian, respectively, along with Woody Harrelson, Game of Thrones' Emilia Clarke, and Paul Bettany. Director Ron Howard in June 2017 replaced former directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller after having production trouble with Disney.

Solo: A Star Wars Story is scheduled to debut May 25.

Our Take
It makes perfect sense for Disney to debut a teaser trailer for one of the biggest movies of the year during TV's most-watched event. However, it's strange we have seen and heard so little about this movie, and that we're just now getting the first trailer four months before it hits theaters. Perhaps the trailer will also reveal a December release date, which would also better spread out Disney's slate of films this year that include Avengers, Incredibles 2, Ant-Man and The Wasp, and Wreck-It Ralph 2.
