The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Detective Pikachu's cast now includes Ken Watanabe who will play Detective Yoshida, a new character exclusive to the film. Watanabe joins Ryan Reynolds, who will be playing the titular role, alongside Justice Smith (Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom) and Kathryn Newton (Big Little Lies). The movie is being directed by Rob Letterman (Goosebumps) and is being written by Nicole Perlman (Guardians of the Galaxy) and Alex Hirsch, known for creating Gravity Falls. The film will follow Pikachu as he helps Smith's character track down his kidnapped father.
