Freedom Planet Developers Tease Possible Switch Support

by Imran Khan on Jan 15, 2018 at 06:29 PM

GalaxyTrail, developers of the indie Sonic-influenced Freedom Planet, are teasing support for the sequel on the developer's Facebook page.

Freedom Planet is a 2D sidescroller with more than a little Sonic mentality, with the first game seeing success and critical favor when it released on PC and console, including the Wii U. After the sequel, Freedom Planet 2, was announced, fans have spent the last year asking GalaxyTrail to bring the game to Switch, as well. After the pictured tease, the developer explained it was just a fun joke.

"We're currently exploring all of our options to offer you the game and the sequel on the Switch," the Facebook account wrote. "The best we could give you so far was a silly pun, though. On the subject, there is nothing to announce at this time, but we'll definitely let everyone known as soon as there is."

You can see a trailer for Freedom Planet 2 below, which is scheduled to release on PC at a date to be determined. Sonic Mania developer Christian Whitehead has announced he will be contributing to the game.

Our Take
I feel like the developers would not start teasing until or unless they were pretty sure the series was coming to Switch. Hopefully they have something to announce soon.
