What To Watch This Weekend: AGDQ, Smite, And Street Fighter III

by Suriel Vazquez on Jan 06, 2018 at 11:00 AM

Sub-zero temperatures can't stop these hot events! Or something. Between the first blizzard of the year and it being the heart of Winter, you should probably just stay inside and watch some of these events, is what I'm saying.

Awesome Games Done Quick starts tomorrow, which means you'd better have your week planned out. You can expect speedruns of tons of classic and popular games, but more recent entries include the Crash Bandicoot N. Sane TrilogyResident Evil 7: Biohazard, and an "all main quests" run of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. (Stream / Schedule)

The Hi-Rez expo also takes place this weekend, which means we have a lot of Smite and Paladins action in store. (Smite Stream / Paladins StreamSchedule)

You can also catch some fun Dota 2 action in the Captain's Draft tournament, where hero selections are randomly limited, making for more diverse lineups. (Stream)

The Japanese Co-op Cup is the biggest Street Fighter III: Third Strike tournament of the year. The event is team-based, which means the drama is layered by some great team-elimination action. Matches begin at 7pm Central. (English Stream / Japanese Stream)

The year's first big American fighting game major is the Kumite In Tennessee, which will feature fighting game favorites like Street Fighter V, Guilty Gear Xrd Rev 2, Tekken 7, and more. (Streams and Schedule)

This week's Counter-Strike: Global Offensive event is the Mountain Dew-sponsored 26th season of the ESEA global challenge. Down a 'Dew and enjoy the games!!!! Rad! (Stream / Schedule)

That's it for this weekend! Let us know if we missed an event, or if there's a scene you'd like us to cover, in the comments.
