A Way Out Releasing Next March, Lets Two Players Play Online With One Copy

by Suriel Vazquez on Dec 07, 2017 at 09:30 PM

As announced during tonight's The Game Awards ceremony, A Way Out, a new co-op adventure from Starbreeze (creators of Brothers: A Tale Of Two Sons), will release on March 28, 2018 and let two players play on different consoles using only one copy of the game.

When the game launches, players who don't own the game will be able to download the "Friends Pass" free trial of the game, then link up with a friend who does own a copy and play the full game. Players can also play the full game cooperatively using local multiplayer without having to download the Friends Pass.

Our Take
Since A Way Out is designed for multiplayer, it makes sense for Starbreeze to do this. I wonder if players looking to save a few bucks will simply peruse online hangouts looking for co-op partners, though. That'd be interesting.
