Monster Hunter World Beta Kicks Off December 9

by Imran Khan on Dec 04, 2017 at 01:42 PM

The Monster Hunter World beta runs Saturday, December 9 at 9 AM PT through Tuesday, December 12 at 9:00 AM PT, Capcom has explained today.

Monster Hunter World's beta is exclusive to the PlayStation 4, but is available to anyone on the console with a PlayStation Plus subscription. The beta can be downloaded ahead of the go-live date on PSN for a 5.9 GB download on December 8.

The content of the beta is a small but significant taste of what the full game has to offer. The two environments for players to explore, Ancient Forest and Wildspire Waste, have different monsters and environmental quirks for players to explore. The Ancient Forest allows players to hunt Great Jagras, while Wildspire Wastes give hunters the chance to take on the mud-slinging Baroth.

The beta has multiplayer for up to four people and includes fourteen different weapon types. Additionally, players who complete the beta quests will get unspecified but "useful" bonus items in the full game.

Monster Hunter World launches on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on January 26. A PC version will arrive at an unknown later date.
