Ashly Burch Returns As Voice Of Chloe In Life Is Strange Bonus Episode

by Imran Khan on Nov 30, 2017 at 12:37 PM

The Deluxe Edition exclusive episode of Life is Strange: Before the Storm will feature Hannah Telle as Max Caufield and the return of Ashly Burch as Chloe Price.

Burch vacated the role of Chloe in the Life is Strange series after Before the Storm's announcement due to the voice actor's strike preventing Burch from resuming the role for the prequel. Fairly new voice actress Rhianna DeVries stepped in for Burch as 16 year-old Chloe for the three-episode game, but it seems Burch is returning for the bonus episode.

“The team here were thrilled to hear the news that both Hannah Telle and Ashly Burch were able to come back together again to voice Max and Chloe,” said Deck Nine Games' Jeff Litchford. “We were really happy with Rhianna DeVrie’s performance as Chloe in Before the Storm and the fan reaction to her has been great, she’ll continue to work closely with us as part of a really close team we have created.”

The voice actors' guild, SAG-AFTRA, reached an agreement earlier this month with the video game companies they had been negotiating with. The deal freed up Burch to resume her role as Chloe once again.

The bonus episode, which developer Deck Nine has said is likely to be the last time Max and Chloe are ever together, is exclusive to the Deluxe Edition of the game. Square Enix has not said if the episode will be available to other owners or separately. You can check out our review of Episode 1 here and Episode 2 here, with Episode 3 still yet to release.

Our Take
It is good that Burch is back for the role, though DeVries did an admirable job. Losing Burch as Chloe was one of the higher profile sacrifices made during the voice actors' strike.
