Download Version Of L.A. Noire Is Too Big For The Switch

by Matthew Kato on Nov 02, 2017 at 10:13 AM

It's great that companies like Rockstar are supporting the Switch, but the unfortunate downside of the system's design is its relatively small amount of internal memory. L.A. Noire comes out for the platform on November 14, and both the download and cartridge-based versions are hefty.

The download version is 29GB in size while the cartridge version requires a 14GB download. The system itself reserves 6.2GB of the 32GB of onboard storage, so if you buy the downloadable edition of L.A. Noire, you're going to need a separate microSD card.

Our Take
The Eurogamer article points out that larger cartridge files would require publishers to use more expensive cartridges – a cost that would likely be passed on to consumers. This illustrates one of the small ways in which Nintendo's decisions have affected its third-party relationships.
