Confirmed: First Batch Of Original Xbox Games On Xbox One

by Suriel Vazquez on Oct 23, 2017 at 09:40 AM

Update: Microsoft (through IGN) has announced the first 13 original Xbox games playable on Xbox One starting October 24. Added to the initial rumored list below are Black and Sid Meier's Pirates! (BloodRayne 2 is also on the way), and these games are playable digitally or if you still have the disc. System Link multiplayer works across different Xbox platforms, but multiplayer does not because the servers are already shut down.

Original Story: Back in June, Microsoft announced it was bringing a number of original Xbox titles over to Xbox One as part of its backwards compatibility program. We haven't heard much about the program since then, but a recent leak may have just given us our first look at the initial lineup of titles.

Twitter user h0x0d (who has leaked accurate details about Microsoft products like the Surface Laptop, Flow, and OneClip in the past) posted an image with a number of original Xbox games.

The list includes:

  • Bloodrayne 2
  • Crimson Skies
  • Dead To Rights
  • Fuzion Frenzy
  • Grabbed By The Ghoulies
  • The King of Fighters: Neowave
  • Ninja Gaiden Black
  • The Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time
  • Psychonauts
  • Red Faction II
  • Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic

This list makes sense, as most of these area already playable on Xbox 360, which could mean they'd be easier to port over the Xbox One. Microsoft has not announced any details on the program, but considering the leak, they may make an official announcement soon. We've reached out Microsoft for comment and will update this story should they reply.

Our Take
Sure, I'll play Ninja Gaiden Black again! Always meant to see if that game really is as hard as I remember it or if twelve-year-old me was just a wimp.
