Nintendo Bringing Back The NES Classic In 2018

by Matthew Kato on Sep 12, 2017 at 08:54 AM

Responding to the tremendous reception the currently discontinued NES Classic received, the company has announced that it is bringing the retro system back in the summer of 2018 "with new shipments."

Nintendo says further timing details will be announced later, and it did not specify how many NES Classics will be shipped or if it will be available indefinitely once it returns.

As for the upcoming SNES Classic, the company says it plans to ship the product into 2018 after originally saying they would stop in 2017.

Recently, NOA president Reggie Fils-Aime assured consumers that there would be enough SNES Classics to go around and therefore we should resist the temptation to be gouged via online auctions.

Our Take
It's great that the NES will be sold again, but with Nintendo already talking about manufacturing constraints, my belief is that when the NES Classic does start selling again next summer, it will be in shipments for a limited time.
