Orb-Wielding Fortune Teller Menat Is Street Fighter V's Next Character

by Suriel Vazquez on Aug 27, 2017 at 10:45 AM

It might not be much of a surprise to hardcore Street Fighter fans (her existence was leaked earlier this year and previous DLC character Ed's story mode hinted at her inclusion), Capcom has finally shown off footage of Street Fighter V's latest character, Menat.

Though she bears a passing resemblance to Rose (who also uses orbs to fight and can reflect fireballs), Menat seems far more centered around wielding orbs throughout the fight, rather than for a short duration during a super move. She can plant orbs around the stage and use them to extend combos later on. It also looks like she can extend combos even without plant them first, though this is likely be a different skill that requires V-Trigger to activate. She also has a Dhalsim-style spinning divekick she can use to get in on her opponents, then follow up with all her orb-based madness. The character seems fairly technical, which is a far cry from previous DLC characters like Ed, who were more catered towards newer players who may not be adept at fireball or uppercut motions.

The character will release on August 29, along with the game's 30th anniversary costumes for M. Bison, Guile, Ibuki, and Karin. You can find the character's reveal trailer below.
