Microsoft Makes ReCore Definitive Edition Official

by Kimberley Wallace on Aug 18, 2017 at 11:40 AM

After some leaks and speculation about its existence, ReCore Definitive Editon is now up for pre-order at Microsoft's store.

The action-adventure platformer that has you forming relationships with robots as the last remaining human was conceptualized by executive producer Keiji Inafune. The game originally came out last September and was met with mixed reviews.

According to the product description, the definitive edition includes a new "Eye of Obsidian" adventure and "T8-NK" Corebot frame. The box art, which can be seen below, boasts that it has HDR support and Xbox One X enhanced visuals.

ReCore Definitive Edition hits on August 29 and costs $19.99.

For more on ReCore, you can read our review, where our own Jeff Marchiafava calls it "a poster child for wasted potential."

Our Take
Hopefully, users who already purchased the game will get the extras as a free update. ReCore had a lot of good ideas; they just weren't executed well. As Jeff noted in his review, it suffered from long load times and technical problems. It'd be great if the definitive edition can improve on some of these issues and the new content is worthwhile. At the very least, this edition is launching at a much lower price than the original.
