Conan Exiles Gets Big Update Next Week As Xbox One Version Goes Live

by Jeff Cork on Aug 03, 2017 at 09:46 AM

Funcom teased its upcoming Conan Exiles expansion a few months back during E3, but today it released an in-depth walkthrough of what adventurers can expect from The Frozen North. In short, it's getting a massive new landmass, a host of new items and activities, and plenty of creatures and factions that would like nothing more than to see your blood paint the snow red.

The free expansion is set for an August 16 release, which is when the game's Xbox One Game Preview goes live. Both PC and Xbox One players will be able to explore the new biome, which Funcom says makes the game's world 70-percent larger.

The addition of the harsh new northern environment means players will have to contend with climate-related conditions such as frostbite. Don't think that you can avoid that element by sticking to the desert, either. While you probably won't be in danger of losing your fingers and toes to the cold, you'll want to wear cooler clothing to avoid heatstroke.

The update also adds new activities such as being able to trap fish and press their oil, or becoming a beekeeper and using honey to brew alcohol. Perhaps most importantly, you can also pick different beards for your heroes in the update.

The game is currently in early access, with plans for a full release on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC sometime in the first quarter of 2018.
