John Cena Gets Lead Role In Transformers Spin-Off Bumblebee

by Jared Koncsol on Aug 01, 2017 at 12:56 PM

John Cena is bringing the SmackDown to upcoming Transformers spin-off, Bumblebee. Cena, who originally rose to fame as a professional wrestler for the WWE, has recently taken his talents to Hollywood, appearing in films such as SistersTrainwreck, and Daddy's Home. His exact role is still ambiguous at this time, but hopefully it will include him rapping.

The film is being directed by Travis Knight, known for Kubo and the Two Strings, who looks to shake things up by having Bumblebee grow close to a young, coming-of-age protagonist who unknowingly purchases Bumblebee in his alternate form. The lead role of unwitting teenager will be played by Shia LaBeouf Hailee Steinfeld.

Paramount stated they hope that this will be the first spin-off in what will culminate in a Transformers cinematic universe; although, if we keep getting so many cinematic universes, we might not be able to fit them all in our own universe.
