Bungie Shows More Of Destiny 2’s Open Destinations

by Matt Miller on Jul 24, 2017 at 12:58 PM

Destiny 2’s beta did a good job of showing the potential for story missions, strikes, and competitive play, but many fans have been wondering about the game destinations themselves – how much more open and flexible are they as gameplay spaces? IGN spent some time exploring the planetoid of Nessus, and talking with Bungie about the new lost sectors, advnentures, and public events. Check out IGN's full video below for a closer look at what Bungie has planned.

If you didn’t have the time to check out Destiny 2’s open beta this past week, you can also check out our video tour. Bungie recently revealed that the beta has been extended through Tuesday evening at 6pm Pacific.

Our Take
Bungie has left a lot of questions unanswered about the broader structure of Destiny 2 up to this point less than two months out from launch, including character progression systems. But it's good to see the studio showing off some of the features that will help enliven the discoverable destinations in the new game. I'm looking forward to more open locales with distinct paths to adventure.
