Previously Unreleased Crash Bandicoot Level Now Available As Free DLC For N. Sane Trilogy

by Kyle Hilliard on Jul 20, 2017 at 02:57 PM

The famously difficult Stormy Ascent level, which was cut from the original Crash Bandicoot, has finally been re-insterted into the game as DLC for the N. Sane Trilogy.

You can check out a trailer for the sort of new level below, and and download it for free from the PlayStation Network.

On the PlayStation Blog, you can find a discussion about the level between N. Sane Trilogy's director, Dan Tanguay, and the level's original designer, Taylor Kurosaki. The level is four times longer than the typical Crash level, and was cut at the last minute mostly due to its extreme difficulty. It was not entirely removed from the disc however, and fans were able to find the level using PlayStaiton cheat devices. Tanguay said that one of Vicarious Vision's best Crash players tried the level and it took him 60 lives to complete it. All of that is to say, download at your own risk.

Our Take
This is an awesome bonus. I also like that it is treated as an optional download. With some folks already struggling with the game's difficulty, it would be nice to ignore this download.
