[Update] Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered Standalone Release Available Now

by Brian Shea on Jun 27, 2017 at 01:25 PM

Update 6/27: As noted by the official PlayStation Blog, you can pick up Modern Warfare Remastered as a standalone game starting today.

Original Story: As was reported earlier this week, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered is receiving a standalone release. Activision today made it official that the classic FPS will finally be available to buy on its own beginning on PlayStation 4 next week, with other platforms to follow at a later date.

The title was previously only available for those who bought special editions of Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, which was released last year. The game features the full campaign and 16 multiplayer maps. The package does not include the Modern Warfare Remastered Variety Map Pack, which features the Killhouse, Broadcast, Creek, and Chinatown maps.

Tuesday's release kicks off Call of Duty's "Days of Summer" promotion, a five-week community event that features maps, double XP, new playlists, gear, and more. The "Days of Summer" event also includes a summer-themed map available for play in Modern Warfare Remastered for the duration of the event. Activision teases that we'll learn more on Tuesday when the PS4 version of Modern Warfare Remastered launches.

The standalone version of Modern Warfare Remastered will cost $39.99 and hits PlayStation 4 on June 27. It will be available both physically and digitally. There is currently no word on when the Xbox One and PC standalone versions will release.
